He looked so small, curled up on one corner of Logan's bed. Knees pressed flush to his chest, the boy… how old was he? Fifteen? Maybe sixteen? He was so small, far too skinny. Clearly down on his luck, considering he stayed in my house after only a vague, drunken offer. I could have woken up and been infuriated by him. He was willing to take the risk. That was never a good sign.
"Kid," I called, and refused to react visibly to the way he shot straight up, eyes wide and frightened. "Breakfast is ready."
