There's a lone stranger in my head
Telling me about all the things I dread
A losing battle
A dying friend
And I in its center
With not a clue as to where to begin
There's no darkness that surrounds me
No light that bounds me
Yet I don't know what side to let in
My heart aches to make peace
My mind longs for some release
And yet the opposing sides won't recede
They're like tidal waves crashing upon the shore from the sea
I tried not to listen
I tried not to heed
But somehow they made me their referee
The more I drew back
The more the battle raged becoming ragged
And I in the middle
Unable to pick a winner
Finally deciding to just take a seat
