The Edge of the Universe
Chapter 1:
I was bred in a laboratory; two of the scientists were my parents. I never knew who they were but I didn't love them. There was no hope of ever having a family like everyone else. At least I wasn't the only humanoid in the lab. The lab wanted to create a whole army of perfect humans. Humans that were stronger, faster, smarter and twice more obedient that's what the league wanted. A better race of humans. I was there favorite to toy with. I never surrendered into their games and I was the one progressing further into their plan. Their used to be 10 of us but know it was down to me and Storm. We were considered the hope for the human race. There were other life forms about. Some aliens even considered us as dinner. The league thought the best way to protect us was to create humanoids but the only ones that seem to do more harm was ourselves.
Today it was a regular day as it seems but it wasn't. I had a plan to escape and I was going to make it out this time. I kept my eye on the clock as they injected information into my brain. They always injected poisons that I would need to build defenses on and information on anything. This seemed a quicker way of teaching us than book. For me I preferred book work like when we were younger and there were a lot more of us. Storm was also beside me, also being given the same information as me. They injected the language of the suckers. They are what most people would describe as vampires, they needed blood to survive and it didn't matter who's blood it was. Depending on the Vamperians (Suckers) depended on what type of blood was their favorite.
It was about 3 o'clock, when the scheduled fire alarm was going to go off. As soon as the big hand landed on the twelve the alarm went off. We were strapped in because they knew it was not a real fire and left us. I turned to storm, he relaxed in his chair. I didn't, I pulled the needle out of my mouth that I hid and tried to break the lock. I did successfully thanks to the information they pumped into my brain.
"Rain, what the hell are you doing?" Storm asked.
"Escaping, want to come?" I said moving closer to him but not close enough so he could attack me. We weren't safe alone. One problem with a humanoid, we didn't like other humanoids. We were highly territorial with each other.
"Are you stupid? There is nothing out there for you!" he yelled.
"Do you really believe their lies?" I said pulling out a bag of clothes and began changing behind him where he couldn't see. He looked away ashamed. "Last chance stay or go?"
"I'll stay because I know my place," he growled.
"You defiantly do, so long comrade," I said climbing up into the vents. Storm let out a huge growl. When we became angry it was as if there was a beast inside us that was looking for a way to escape. I moved quickly through the vent system. I memorized all of ways beforehand. I kept to the smaller vents because there was a less chance of a camera. I could almost see the outside world. I peeked through the cracks in the vent. There were guards all over and search dogs. I sighed as I moved to kick the gate out. With my strength the vent cover flew off sending it across the grounds. Everyone turned to my direction. A scientist noticed me right off the back.
"It's Rain, she's trying to escape," one of them shouted. All the guards began to charge after me thinking there numbers were going to keep them safe. I moved to the left as one decided to go with a frontal attack. I slapped his arm away sending him to the ground with my slap. I heard another attacker coming from behind me and I back kicked him the chest sending him at least 20 feet in the air.
"Rain stop you are killing your own kind," The leader of the league said, Richard.
"They aren't me," I said as I grabbed one by the throat and choked him. The solider dropped to the floor cold.
"Oh, rain did you have to do that?" Richard asked.
"Stop pretending like you care," I said, I was looking for a way out. The wall that surrounded this fortress was at least 30 feet. The wall was also three separate cement walls each twelve inch thickness. My only way out was to push the button that opened the door of the gates. The problem was only getting there. I couldn't use my speed. They have kept me on a low diet and energy pills to keep me in controllable environment. I should have snuck some before I escaped. Why didn't remember that?
"Rain you are the best. Why would you give that up?" Richard asked.
"One out of two, Rich, what difference does it make that I leave. Storm likes it here. I don't," I said as I tried to use my speed. I was slower than average but still faster than everyone else. I made it to the gate. There was a green button and I pushed it and the gate opened. I slipped out as they tried to close it on me. From the outside I pulled out the wires from the wall and broke all the wires. Lights, cameras and sensors all went down. I began a soft jog out of here. It would be a while before they mobilize out. I needed to leave fast and without a trace and the only place I could think of was the ports and that's was where I was heading.
