What The Mirror Doesn't Hide
The white of your dress does you no justice
We can all see what you really are
Broken
Shattered
Wrecked
The color of innocence doesn't suite you
It does nothing to hide what you wish to disappear
The cuts and scars on your arms are there for all to see
And the blood still stains the pretty white dress
But that doesn't mean you'll take it off
Because it's a beautiful dress
And it makes you look sweet
The little jacket you wear won't cover the thinness of you limbs
And it won't hide your bony body
But that doesn't mean you'll start eating
Because you're prettier this way
This way you're not fat
You hide nothing as you stare at me with as much innocence as you can muster
The dark lines around your eyes do nothing to hide
Hide the redness around your eyes and the real dark circles
Nor does it cover the pain everyone can see in your irises
But it doesn't mean you'll stop wearing the eyeliner
Because you like the way it looks
And the way it matches your hair
The smile on your face deceives no one
Everyone can tell its fake
And they can see how much it strains you through the red of your lipstick
But it doesn't mean you'll stop smiling
Because you think it fools everyone
That it makes people believe you're happy
The real you can't be hidden by the girl you see in the mirror
Everyone can see how much pain your in
And they all know how depressed you are
The girl looking in the mirror paused her mental bashing
And asked herself
"If everyone can see how much pain I'm in why don't they help me?"
Her reflection didn't answer
So she came with an answer of her own
"They just must not care"
A poem about depression and hiding who you are through a smile. Hope someone likes it.
