Victoria laughed hysterically, tripping over her own feet onto the sand as Josh rushed past her and kicked the soccer ball. It sailed through their makeshift goal of two chairs with her volleyball net wrapped around. As the ball knocked the net from the chairs Victoria sighed, beaten. Josh grinned enthusiastically, literally jumping for joy.
"Hahaha!" he laughed. "That means you have to wake Donnie up."
Victoria sighed, slowly getting up as she brushed the sand off her arms and legs. "Fine," she begrudgingly obliged. "But you have to make lunch."
He looked up, and they both grinned. "Macaroni and cheese." They agreed. Walking into the house together, Josh started up the stove while Vic tiptoed upstairs.
She trudged down the hallway, slowing as she passed Josh's room. Victoria looked in, spotting miscellaneous CASL gear and flashes of blue. Laughing at her sports-obsessed best friend, she sped up towards Donovan's room.
Peering into her room, Victoria tiptoed in. "Donnie? Hun, wake up. Lunch is almost ready." She heard no answer.
"Don?" Victoria slid near Donnie's bed, carefully unpeeling the sheets to find nobody there. "Oh my god!" she yelled, rushing downstairs.
"Josh! Josh! It's Donovan! She's gone!" she screeched. He quickly turned the stove off, rushing to her room.
"Donnie? Don, where are you?" he began frantically searching, pulling his brown hair in frustration. "But she was right here! Right here! Where could she have gone?"
They searched the entire house, but to no appeal. Donovan was nowhere to be found.
"Why don't we look outside?" Victoria proposed. "She could have woken up earlier and gotten bored. Maybe she's in the backyard." Josh nodded, and they ran towards the back door, swinging it open only to gaze at the sight before their very eyes.
"Is… Is that…" Victoria started.
"It's a sandcastle." Josh gaped. "It's a sandcastle the size of a house."
