Nova's name suited her well. She was the very concept on wich supernovas were based. Her cell was different, further deep than the others.
That didn't stop her hearing the screams.

Nova wasn't tortured, not like the others. She was experimented on just so they could see if her power could be harnessed, used to fuel the war against her own kind. Nova would rather die, but they wouldn't let her. They would rather use her to destroy her own people.

Every day everyone else in this place was tortured with whips and blades, fire and water, but not Nova. She heard the screams, sounds only the most tortured of souls could produce, and it made her mad. The anger grew, an inferno inside her. It boiled her blood and scorched her heart. Each time the anger became too much, exploding around her. Each time she felt a little bit less.

The physical scars healed. The mental ones didn't. All her sisters, destroyed in a fire caused by her. Deserted by parents who couldn't handle her. Nova was alone, would always be alone. If they got their way, Nova would spend her whole life chained up in this cell.

Nova wouldn't try to escape. She had no family, no friends to go to after they learned of her secret. As far as the world was concerned, Nova was a monster. That world was harsh and unfeeling. One day, Nova knew she would give in to insanity and live in a world all her own.
