Trust the Night
Listening to the silence,
It feels like a scream.
Navy nights, speckled white,
It's too beautiful.
Like a foxglove,
It hides a poison so addictive
It steals your life.
In the city,
Bright neon lights,
Its' fake look,
Mischievous,
Revealing,
Rife.
As though it will brainwash you
Into its' activity.
In the country,
A torturing silence
Lingers for long.
Legends of evil,
Crime,
Fear.
It never leaves you.
It follows you.
Like a stalker.
So no,
I won't
Trust the night,
I will
Go into the welcoming
Day,
And leave the night
To the friskers.
