Chapter 7
After finding Blade, we found ourselves on land. I noticed where ever we went we were glared at by the villagers. Pirate No Name, Irish Cutlass, Seabait, and Blade were not bothered, but I was. I suppose we did look dangerous with our blades in their sheath which were connected to our belt. I now boring scars on my arm and having more muscle then before definitely made me look the part of a pirate. Before leaving Pirate No Name gave me a bandanna to wear, I wore it like a band across my forehead, with my hair covering most of it, instead of the bandana covering all my hair.
"Why is everyone staring?" I asked Irish Cutlass.
"They be not trustin' of us," She replied calmly. She led us to the market. Our job was to stock up on food. Freya and Ash were gathering weapons, The snakes were guarding the ship with Redfeather and Lil Pup, Shadow and the rest of the deck hands were who no's where, and Jade and Captain left with saying they had business to take care of.
We quickly did our shopping. I slowly watched at how sly my crewmates were. Two of them would distract them and talk prices while one stole three, then we would buy three of said food product or none at all. I was shocked when I started to join them. As if instinct took over me I knew what exactly to do. I stole my first thing ever and it felt amazing. I felt like I was a pirate and the best part we never got caught!
"Aye, sir, hope ripe be these oranges? Ye better be not sellin' me rotten oranges," Blade said as he examined them.
"Or bruised!" Irish Cutlass joined in. "Thee be no use if bruised. We have to eat them all at one time!"
"Plus there gross when bruised!" Seabait stuck his tongue out in disgust.
"Ah, Lad, they be ripe, I swear to you," The man promised. First mistake never promise to a pirate. Then, turning to Irish Cutlass he smiled, "My dear, I would ever sell such foul food to a pirate." Second mistake, never lie to a pirate.
Pirate No Name and I were standing near the cart as we both reached out and swiped three apiece. We smirked at each other quickly, then, I picked up one and examined it as well. "I suppose they will do. If not we surely can search this man down." I said in a dry voice.
He looked at me, obviously thinking I was a new pirate. He gave me a look of I'm not afraid of you. Third mistake, never challenge a pirate. I turned and glared at him. I watched as Blade stabbed his dagger into the cart by the man's hand.
"Ye better fear us, foolish scallywag, or ye might not see ye wench again," He snarled at the man. "Do not sell us bad fruit at this extraordinary price!"
"Go somewhere else and buy your fruits then!" He said.
Blade pulled his dagger out harder then needed and shook the cat. We watched oranges roll away and we turned and left. I grabbed one of the fallen oranges and looked at the man. I felt guilty instantly. I let out a sigh as I dropped the fruit and turned to walk away. I stole from a man trying to keep his family fed. I hung my head the rest of the time we shopped. I helped Irish Cutlass put the food away and then heard Blade talking of going to the local tavern.
"I'm coming," I said as I came to stand by him.
"Ye drink?" He asked in shock as he stared me down.
"Nope, but, I'm gonna start," I stated. Pirate No Name and Blade chuckled as the three of us headed the local tavern, others followed us. Irish Cutlass, Seabait, after much complaining, Shadow, Lil Pup, and Viper stayed to guard the ship. As we walked through the door way I noticed Jade and Captain Wolfbane at a table already with Black Foot, Hawkeyes, and Cobra, and a few other people. We made our way over to table. I sat next to Jade and Blade. It was clear those who were here before we arrived were tipsy. Hawkeyes even gave me a friendly hello.
"Greetin' Swift," Captain Wolfbane slurred. "This be me hearty me meet long go. This is Henry and Luna." On either side of him was a woman with long blonde hair. She was not a pirate, it was clear, but a waitress. Her blue eyes were soft and friendly. Then man had black hair that was in a pony tail and braided. His hazel eyes were cool and calm. He looked a bartender.
"Greetings, Captain, Luna, and Henry, tis a pleasure," I smiled.
Blade set a bottle in front of me. It was huge full of an amber liquid. I raised it to my mouth and took and giant gulp.
"Wait, Annie-"Blade tried to stop me, but it was too late. I drained the liquid down my throat and felt a burn. I wanted to scream and vomit. This liquid was disgusting. "What the bloody hell is this shit!?"
"Rum and it burns the first time down. Ye start slow ye first time, lass," Pirate No Name called.
"Now ye tell me," I grumbled. I saw the others smirk at me and I had no clue why. I raised my body. "Well drink up, me hearty." I raised the bottle to my lips as other stood to dance or get refills, leaving Jade and I at the table.
"I do not dance!" Jade said in a slurry voice.
"Nor do-"I started until I spotted with a new figure. He had spikey silver hair, but not like an old person silver. His hair had life to it still. His eyes were crystal-blue eyes and cold looking. He wore a green cloak that went to his wrist. A gold brace was wrapped around his wrist. On his fingers there were three gold bands. He had the palest skin I have ever seen. Around his neck was a collar made from what could be a child's belt with a gold medal off it.
"Who is that?" I asked.
"Biscuit," Jade mumbled.
"No thank you, Jade, but who is that," I asked.
"Biscuit!" Jade growled which was pathetic to hear. She sounded like a cat purring. I held back my snicker.
"No, who is he!" I said. "I really do not want food."
"Bloody Biscuit!" She shouted a little louder.
"If I take a bloody biscuit will you tell me in bloody hell who he is!" I shouted. I was starting to get annoyed. I mean seriously why couldn't she ust tell me his damn name!
"His name be bloody Biscuit, ye foolish girl!" Jade sneered.
"Oh," I said.
"Evenin' Loves," the figure came and stood by. I nearly screamed at him popping out of nowhere.
"Jeez, Biscuit do not do that!" I scowled as I downed another gulp. "You gave me a fright." I watched as his blue eyes turn red and grew angry at my. His skin started turning a blue tint. "Did I say something wrong?"
