I'm really happy with the feedback I've been getting with this story! It really means a lot to me how supportive you guys are. 3
I stood near the line of people waiting to pick up their friends and loved ones, shifting my feet back and forth. Crap. I'm about to meet the one person I hate most in the world.
Alicen better appreciate this. How will I even know which one is Derrick? Oh, wait. The one who's the biggest pain in the ass.
I watched as Derrick's flight landed, and people started walking out. I scanned the crowd, looking for somebody who looked like Derrick's personality. A.K.A., someone who practically screams douchebag.
My eyes ran through, scanning over tons of people. Nobody jumped out as Derrick material. I was about to give up and dial Ali when my eyes ran across a pair of bright blue ones.
My eyes widened as I took in the sight in front of me.
Holy shit. He's hot. Really, really hot. Who is this guy? I let my eyes travel down the rest of him. Fit body, strong jaw line, black hair. I don't think I've ever seen somebody so good looking. I was close to drooling.
He caught me staring, and shot me a smile with a wink. A blush rose to my cheeks and I smiled back before I averted my eyes, continuing to search the crowd for Derrick. My phone starting ringing and I looked down to answer it.
Alicen.
I picked up the phone, looking back up. Whoa. Hot guy is walking towards me. Oh, shit. What do I say to him? "Ali... I... Uh... I don't see him. What does he look like?" I asked her, keeping my gaze on the man walking straight towards me, and trying and failing to not stutter.
"He said he's wearing a dark blue hoodie and jeans. He's got black hair. Do you see him?" She asked.
My jaw dropped just as the guy reached me. This incredibly attractive guy just so happened to be wearing a dark blue hoodie and jeans. I hung up the phone just as he held out his hand. "Hey there. I'm –". I held up my hand, cutting him off.
"An asshole? Yeah. I know. No need to explain." I said in the rudest voice I could.
He laughed loudly. Holy shit. That's the most attractive noise I've ever heard. Wait, what am I thinking? This is Derrick Ames. You know, total pain in the ass? Total pain in the ass that sleeps with everything. Totally sexy pain in the ass.
"Well, I'd recognize that voice anywhere. Nice to finally meet you, Ericka. I see you're still being a stuck up bitch." Derrick said. "Where's Alice?"
Alice? I've never heard anybody call her that. That's such a stupid nickname for her. Already he's getting on my nerves.
"Not here. You'll have to settle for me." I said, rolling my eyes and turning to walk away.
"I think I can handle that. You know, I've always thought you had a pretty cute voice, but I never imagined you'd be this hot." Derrick said, reaching his hand out and putting it on the small of my back.
"Do not touch me. I don't even want to talk to you. The only reason I'm here is because Ali couldn't make it." I said, reluctantly pulling his warm hand off of my back.
I don't care how hot he is. This guy is still the same jerk he has been for the past four years.
I kept walking, aware of Derrick trailing closely behind me.
Alicen left out that small tiny detail that her brother is hotter than ever damn Hollister and Abercrombie model combined. Why didn't Alicen tell me he was so cute?! I could've at least prepared myself! I was gaping at him like an idiot!
I looked at him out of the corner of my eye, catching his. His eyes are literally breath taking. They're blue, with light specks of green around the edges. I felt mesmerized my the intriguing color.
He grinned at me again, noticing me staring. I really have to watch myself around him. I definitely don't need to give him another reason to mess with me. I rolled my eyes and turned my head forward.
We reached my car, a baby blue Kia, and got in.
"You drive a standard? I like girls that can handle a stick." Derrick said, winking at me and putting his arm around the back of my seat as I pulled out of the parking lot.
"Derrick, move your arm. Now." I said, giving him a murderous glare.
He gave me a lopsided grin, showing his dimples, before moving his arm. I took in a sharp breathe. Shit. Can he get any more attractive?
I chose that moment to accidentally take my foot off of the clutch, and my car lurched forward, stalling out.
"Am I that distracting, sweetheart?" He asked me, smirking.
My phone started ringing again. "What?" I snapped into it, pulling my eyes away from his.
"Well, I'm guessing you found Derrick. You sound pissed off already." Ali said to me.
"Alicen, you owe me. Big time." I said to her. "How's Justin's mom?"
"She's much better! I'm so happy! She's awake and talking now!" she said, relief clearly in her voice.
Before I could respond, my phone was ripped out of my hand.
"Alice!" Derrick said excitedly into it, his gorgeous eyes lighting up.
"I can't wait to see you too!"
"Uhm, no." He said, glancing towards me. "And why the fuck would I do that?"
"Oh. Good idea." He said, laughing. "Alright, I'll tell her. See you soon, little sister."
He hung up the phone and turned to look at me.
"Tell me what?" I asked.
"Alicen wanted me to tell you the reason I'm coming back home. You know how I was going to school in California?" He asked. I nodded and he continued.
"Well, I beat the shit out of my teacher. He didn't press charges or anything, but he made my parents pay his medical bills. I guess Mom and Dad found it necessary to make me come home and finish up high school here. It's supposed to straighten me out."
I looked at him in shock. "Oh... Okay..." I said, reaching forward and turning up the radio. So that explains the strange reaction from Mrs. Ames last night. Derrick hit his teacher? I didn't realize he was dangerous! And now he's in my car.
The rest of the ride was silent. Neither of us said a word to each other until I pulled into my driveway.
I got out of my car and crossed the front lawn towards Ali's house. I could feel Derrick trailing closely behind me again.
Doesn't this guy know anything about personal space?
I picked up my pace and opened the door. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted at the door by Mr. and Mrs. Ames.
"Hello, dear." Mrs. Ames said to me as I walked by, heading for Ali's room. I called my hellos to her and Mr. Ames.
I didn't want to stay there and see the reunion. I doubted it was going to be a happy one.
I strolled into Alicen's room, flopping on the bed. "Hey!" she said, slapping my leg. "Did he tell you?"
"Uhm, yes? Ali, what the hell are you thinking? He's, like, dangerous!" I said, punching her in the arm.
"Ouch! I'm sorry! I thought it would be funny for him to tell you knowing you guys would be trapped in a car together for a while. And he's really not that bad. Give him a chance." She pleaded.
"No. You could've warned me about the way he looks though. I stood there gaping at him like an idiot. It just doesn't make any sense to me! He's such a pain in the ass, but he's so hot!" I said, throwing up my hands. "I literally stood there staring at him with my jaw open. I'm almost positive I was drooling."
"Yeah, I get that a lot." A new voice said from behind me. I jumped and turned around. Crap. He heard that? "You can stare at me anytime you want, though." He continued, winking at me.
I cringed as Ali jumped off of her bed and into Derrick.
"Derrick! I'm so glad you're home! I missed you so much!" Alicen said, tears leaking from her eyes.
"Alice, don't cry! I missed you too!" He said, squeezing her in a hug.
Clearly, Derrick has a soft spot for his sister. He's usually such a jerk, but I noticed the second her name was mentioned, he brightened up.
Ali wiped the rest of her tears and pulled herself out of Derrick's arms. "How did it go with Mom and Dad?" She asked him, walking over and closing her door.
Derrick's expression suddenly hardened and he blew a breath through his teeth, closing his eyes. "It was awkward, really. They hate me, I hate them. I'm only here to go to that stupid school. As far as I'm concerned, they don't exist. I'm not even going to acknowledge them." He said in one long breath.
Ali just nodded, seeming to understand why Derrick was so angry at his parents. I, however, was confused. Why would Derrick have the right to be mad at his parents? He's the one who tried to set the house on fire! He's the one who got himself kicked out of school! Why is he mad?
I made a mental note to ask Ali about that whenever Derrick wasn't around. A few minutes later, Mr. Ames opened the door and turned to Ali, completely ignoring Derrick. "Alicen, your mother and I are going out to dinner. Be good." He said before closing the door.
Derrick snorted and rolled his eyes. 'Wow. I've never seen someone actually snort attractively.' I thought to myself. 'Damn it, Ericka! Stop it.'
Wow. I'm mentally yelling at myself.
"Of course they leave as soon as I get home. That's so pathetic that they can't even stay home for 5 fucking minutes." Derrick said.
"Derrick. Stop. Why don't we watch a movie?" Ali suggested.
"Okay. I'm gonna go get some food. You pick a movie." I said, getting up and heading for the door.
"I'll help you." Derrick said, following me out the door. I shot him a weird look as I made my way down the stairs. Why is it necessary to help?
Walking into the pantry, I grabbed a few bags of popcorn. I popped them into the microwave and set the timer. I then turned around and leaned back on the counter on my elbows.
I closed my eyes and leaned my head back, thinking about what all had happened today. I was exhausted.
I felt a hand brush a strand of my hair behind my ear and then start to brush across my face. I smiled and kept my eyes closed before I realized that the someone touching me was probably Derrick.
I opened my eyes to see him towering over me less than a foot away, smirking. I stared up at him. Avoiding his eyes, I found myself staring at his lips. Bad move.
"See something you like?" He said softly and slowly, moving his head closer to mine.
I just continued staring at him, mesmerized, as his lips came closer to mine. He came about an inch away from my mouth before my mind caught up to me. Quickly, I turned around to face the microwave. "D...Derrick? What are you doing?" I said with a shaky breath.
"Come on, can't I get a welcome home present?" he whispered, his lips on my ear.
My breathing hitched and I bit my lip, trying to control my stupid hormones. Shit shit shit.
I pulled the popcorn out of the microwave and attempted to open the bag. My hands were shaking from the close contact, and the bag wouldn't budge. I kept pulling on the ends, trying to tear it open.
"Let me get that for you." Derrick said, his lips still at my ear. He reached his arms around me from behind, grabbing the bag and easily ripping it open. He poured it into the bowl I had out.
I thanked him and tried to get out of his hold, but he pressed his body into me, making it impossible to move from the counter.
"Why can't we just forget everything that happened? We should be friends." He said, gently placing a kiss on my ear lobe. I shivered as a chill went through me and I forgot the concept of breathing.
"Derrick..." I said. It was supposed to sound threatening, but really came out more as a moan. I felt him smile against my ear.
My knees started to shake, and I felt my legs give out. Luckily, Derrick had me pinned so I couldn't collapse.
"What do you say we start over?" He said, trailing his fingers across my stomach.
"Okay." I said, willing to give him anything he wanted in that moment. Which is slutty, I know. But I honestly wasn't thinking about anything but how good it felt to be in his arms.
"What's taking you guys so...Whoa." I heard Alicen say. Derrick pulled his arms away from me so quickly I almost fell. I turned around, feeling my face turn bright red.
"Ali! We were just..." I started, before Derrick cut me off. "We were just on our way back up." He said, grabbing the bowl off of the counter and throwing an arm around Ali.
Okay, what the hell was that?
Yeah. Vote, comment.. please?
Song: Do you want me (Dead)? by All Time Low
"Do you want me, or do you want me dead?"
"Oh, give it up for at least a second. I'm getting sick of your bullshit attitude. And how you walk around like you shine brighter. It's killing me."
