Hope

My heart is gone
Broken and shattered,
For what light once shone
Grows now weaker
Not stronger.

Dark place
In which I now wander
Falling down an endless pit
On my own
Alone.

I run from what I mustn't seek
That which threatens and misleads me
Everyday this dark sleep
That swallows and beseeches me.

I long to find that clearing
Into which the light shines in.
To my life it shows meaning
And guides me, leads me within.

I follow without thought
Of what is to be
And rejoice for what I've sought
Is now in my reach.

And I join its light
And feel its warmth
And I know I'll be alright
For hope I am finally with.
