I waited for you

but you never came home.

Is this it then?

Am I all alone?

I hear their moans out in the streets.

Their hungry cries in the air.

Can you see me?

Are you out there?

I go to the window,

I look outside,

all the walking empty shells,

the dead that have become alive.

I've waited for you,

but I can't any longer.

I go upstairs now,

and let out a holler.

The door downstairs crashes

with a thundering boom.

I hear them run in.

I'm waiting for my doom.

And that's when I see it,

the flash of your hair.

I sit and cry,

you shouldn't be down there.

That's when you see me,

and I stare into your empty eyes.

You start to hobble up the stairs,

I continue to cry

Then I see the note

that you strapped to your chest,

two simple words,

your last request.

The others sense me now

and they rush toward me,

but in a few moments,

we will both be free.

I embrace you now,

as if in a hug.

I can feel it coming soon,

my hearts' final tug.

As I'm getting devoured,

I knew I would always remember,

those two simple words,
