A/N: Hi, my name is Kaley. This is from my point of view and is true. I changed a few things, some dialogue. I mostly just fixed it to fit in one story. Thanks for reading!
"Girls with low self-esteem are stupid," said Michael angrily.
"And you think you're helping? A lot of girls would rather be called ugly than be lied to!" I forced out. I was not backing down.
"Michael, do you think Kaley is pretty?" asked Ashleigh, trying to help.
Michael turned to me, "Kaley, you're pretty."
"No! See, I know you're lying. Guys lie, that's how they are!"
"Not all guys lie!" Michael retorted.
"Enough of them do."
"Well that's stupid!"
"I don't trust guys!" I yelled, stomping away.
"There is it," Michael whispered sarcastically.
Ashleigh followed me, trying to apologize. I thought about slowing down, but the tears and stinging in my eyes urged me to keep going. I was not going to cry in front of them. I knew Brian had heard me yell. I felt bad, but I needed time and space.
"He's not lying…" Ashleigh said.
"It's not just the pretty thing!" I whispered, "Its people. I don't trust people. There is nothing worth trusting."
A wounded look appeared on her face.
"I trust you," I amended weakly.
"Do you trust Brian?" she asked.
I thought quickly. I love Brian. I trust him. I've surely shown him, dating him for the fourth time now. Was I scared I might get hurt? Hell yes. But I trusted him.
"Yeah, I trust Brian; Those things with John and Todd with my mom… Even Josh and I…"
"Yeah, I know," she comforted.
I walked more with my head down. I felt someone walking behind me, but didn't have the energy to turn around. Suddenly a familiar set of arms were around me.
"It's okay," Brian said comfortingly.
"I shouldn't have yelled."
"You weren't yelling."
"For the record, you were yelling," Ashleigh said.
Brian slipped his hand in mine.
"Michael doesn't have that voice in his head that tells him when he's going too far," he explained.
"I know, its not his fault. I shouldn't have yelled at him..."
"Oh no, you were right. I'm gonna yell at him. I'm gonna kill him."
"Don't kill your brother," I said, laughing, "I want to help first."
We laughed lightly before continuing to walk.
"There's a reason I don't trust boys."
"And what's that?"
"Josh. He was my boyfriend in fifth grade."
"What happened?"
"He told me all those thing, that huge ego boost thing, you know? And then he cheated on me."
"Ouch."
"Yeah. But the worst part? My best friend told me about it and said that the new girl was much better than I ever was."
"So I'm going after this Josh with a gun?" Brian asked.
"No," I laughed, "I'm just going to never contact him again."
"Good. Besides, you got me now."
"True... I love you."
"Love you too."
