Ah, don't kill me :( It's been a while since the last update, I know. I've just been so overwhelmed with school work that I haven't been able to do anything other than homework. Hopefully you all enjoy this chapter & that'll make up for the wait :)
"Ah shit," I said before I sneezed. "This is getting really annoying."
"I told you that you were gonna get sick," Aiden said as he handed me a tissue. "It's the end of November, you can't go out with wet hair."
"Yeah, yeah," I mumbled as I blew my nose. "I'm sure this is so attractive for you to see."
The two of us sat in my bedroom since I was skipping classes for the day because I caught a cold, and he was nice enough to come hang out with me. Ever since I decided to give him a second chance things have been going great. Nothing is official, but we've been hanging out and hooking up and I've never been happier. I was still nervous about letting my guard down in public around him and everyone else. We never acted like we were together in public because if people knew that made it real, and if it's real then I have a chance to get hurt again. I'm not ready for that, so I'll stay blissfully ignorant in our own little bubble for as long as possible.
"Are you coming to the game still?" he asked as he moved the tissue box back on my nightstand.
"I want to. I have to come up with a game plan though for my dad so he lets me go look at colleges during winter break."
"Why wouldn't he let you?"
"Because I'd be going by myself and it's a long drive to New York," I said as I sat up against my headboard. "He doesn't like the fact that I want to leave Chicago in the first place, he's not going to let me go by myself."
"Why don't we go together then? I applied to a few schools in the city."
"You think my dad will let me go with you?" I asked skeptically.
"He's known me for years now. I've slept over your house and nothing's ever happened."
"That he knows about," I added.
"Exactly," he smirked at me. "It'll be fun."
"I guess it doesn't hurt to ask," I sighed. "I'll bring it up tomorrow."
"Are you going to be okay with your mom coming to dinner?"
"No," I pouted. "Not at all."
"Why is she coming again? I thought your dad doesn't like her."
"He doesn't. She's been begging to see the two of us though and threatened to call the lawyers and tell them that my dad's refusing visitation rights, meanwhile he's just doing what we ask but his hands are tied because we're not 18 yet."
"You have no idea."
"At least Jen will be there, and I'll be there," he said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me into hs chest. "It won't be too bad."
"She's going to be such a pain in the ass though. Every time I see her it's always the same questions. 'When are you getting a boyfriend?' 'You're getting too old to be dressing like a boy still.' 'No one's going to want to marry you if you keep acting that way.'" I mimicked her.
"Just tell her I'm your boyfriend."
"Yeah, okay," I laughed. "That'll just go into a whole new thing of questions."
"Maybe she just doesn't know what to say to you and feels awkward because she walked out."
"Good, she should," I said angrily, and then started coughing.
"Okay, time to take a nap," he said as he scooted the two of us down on the bed and wrapped his arms around me. "Good night."
"It's twelve in the afternoon."
"Good afternoon then, smart ass," he said and rolled his eyes.
When I woke up later in the afternoon, I noticed the Aiden was gone and there was a piece of paper on the pillow next to me.
'Sorry I couldn't stay. Had to get ready for the game. Hope to see you later. Aiden'
I smiled to myself as I put the note in my nightstand and decided it was time to get out of bed. I walked out of my room and saw Jen and Mia sitting on the couch and a pile of books were stacked on the coffee table.
"Doing a little light reading there?" I asked as I walked over to the fridge and pulled out a water bottle.
"We put together all our books for homework over the break to try to figure out what we don't need," Jen said.
"That sounds like a blast," I said sarcastically. "Me and you and just share since you'll be over my house. Mia's the one out of luck."
"Great, thanks," she said and rolled her eyes. "Tyler and I could share too then."
"How long as Aiden here for? He was leaving when we were coming in," Jen said.
"He came by after lunch and we fell asleep."
"You two are just too cute," Mia said and smiled. "Do you feel up to going to the game?"
"Yeah, I don't want to sit in here anymore. I'm going to shower now so I have enough time to dry my hair this time."
"Good idea," Jen said and laughed.
I ended up taking longer than expected getting ready, which interfered with Jen and Mia's plan of stopping by the locker rooms to wish them luck before the game. The two of them were waiting impatiently by the door as I ran around the suite like a chicken without a head trying to get ready. Apparently being sick slows me down completely. Eventually they got tired of waiting and pulled me out of the room.
"Shit," I said as we were halfway there. "I left my sweatshirt in the room, I'm gonna freeze."
"We can't go back now," Jen said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me.
"Sure, me getting pneumonia is less important than a stupid football game," I said sarcastically.
"At least you know," Mia said and laughed. "It's not that cold out."
"It's November, it's supposed to drop down to like forty degrees. I'm already sick."
"We'll keep each other warm then," she suggested.
I relished in the warmth of the gym when we walked in and headed toward the locker room as the team was just leaving.
"What are you doing here?" Drew asked as he kissed Jen.
"Wishing you guys luck," she said sweetly.
"You don't have a jacket?" Aiden asked as he came up next to me.
"Jen wouldn't let me go back," I pouted as I rubbed my arms to create friction and warmth.
Aiden walked into the locker room without a word and came back out with his football sweatshirt that had his number and last name on the back.
"Wear this, you'll be warmer," he said as he handed it to me. I slipped it over my head and instantly felt warmer.
"Thank you," I said as I hugged him.
"Don't need you getting any sicker," he said as he rubbed his hands up and down my back.
"You're names on this," I said and he nodded. "Won't people think we're together?"
"Does it matter?"
"I guess not," I said and smiled. "Good luck."
"No good luck kiss?" he said and smirked.
"I'm sick," I told him and he shrugged. I rolled my eyes before reaching up on my toes to kiss him on the cheek. "Happy?"
"Yes," he said.
"Come on, we gotta be on the field," Tyler said as he let go of Mia.
The boys ran out of the gym to catch up with the rest of the team and the three of us made our way to the stadium. We found seats that weren't too far from the field, but weren't too close either. All the drunks were surrounding us, along with Aiden's personal cheerleaders.
"Those girls irk me," I said to Jen as the three blonde sophomores screamed when Aiden walked on the field. "I want to rip out their vocal chords."
"Fiesty," Jen said and laughed. "They just think he's hot, they're harmless."
"They followed me out of my class the other day and interrogated me about him," I said. "I don't know how harmless they are."
"Is she wearing his sweatshirt?" Blonde Number One asked.
"Oh my God, I think so. That's not okay," Blonde Number Two said.
"Shut up, please," I yelled at them. "You're fifteen, go obsess over Justin Bieber or something."
"Very nicely handled," Jen said.
The game dragged on kind of slowly, until Drew scored a touchdown and everyone went wild. Jen jumped out of her seat, causing me to fall since I ended up falling asleep on her shoulder. Halftime came and all the players were walking to the benches to rest.
"Is that Sloane?" Jen asked as she pointed toward the field. Sure enough, it was, and she was heading straight toward Aiden.
"Lovely," I muttered as I stood up and wiped my nose. "I'll be back."
I walked down to the field and saw that she was talking to Aiden, and he at least had the decency to look uncomfortable while talking to her.
"Ali! There you are," he said as he ran over to the railing. "Uh, you know Sloane?"
"That I do," I said icily. "Listen, leave him alone."
"I don't think you can tell him who he can and can't talk to," she said and smirked at me. "Aiden's a big boy, he can talk to whoever he likes."
"No, he can't talk to you," I said and looked at him. "I don't want you to talk to her."
"The sex can't be that good for you to ignore me, Aiden. I know how you like it," she said and went to touch his arm, but I pulled him out of the way by yanking on his jersey.
"He's mine," I said and pulled his face close to mine so I could kiss him. Everyone in the crowd gasped in shock because it's well-known that the two of us have been fighting for a year.
"You know where to find me, Aiden," she said before walking away.
I pulled away from him and blushed when I saw the smirk plastered on his face.
"Don't start. You know why I don't like her."
"I'm just shocked you actually kissed me in front of the whole school," he said before leaning in for another kiss.
"Spencer, leave your girlfriend alone and get over here!" his coach yelled, forcing us to break apart.
"Good luck," I said before letting him go.
"So much for not letting the whole school know," Jen muttered as I sat back down next to her.
"Shut up," I said. "Sloane needed to be stopped."
"She won't stop, you know," Jen said and gave me a serious look. "The brain surgeons back there said they saw Aiden leaving Sloane's room every once in a while."
"That's impossible," I said as I shook my head 'no'. "I wake up and he's still there. It's different this time."
"I'm just repeating what I heard."
"It has to be different this time," I said to myself.
