Future's Veil
Where is the quiet solace of a home?
It seems as if the clock never stops ticking
Somehow it never felt this way before.
The times once overcome seem meagre beasts to the ones now before me;
Stormy skies seem to lie ahead
Even as I'm lying lonely on my bed
How will all this come to an end?
The guitar strings continue to strum,
the only echo of simple peace filling these sore ears;
Aching for the comforting quiet I remain
But how very hard it is to obtain.
Every step forward seems like two steps back
The roll of the dice seems to take control of the game
Even though this is hardly a search of fame.
I wish not for old memories and times
I just want brand new skies
Yet Future's veil seems to only live through change
Between the hardly modest tones of Black, White and Grey.
