When I was a girl, I would live for the spring.
The crisp green leaves rustled on bending branches
As slender trees swayed under the spell of the cool, whistling wind.
The bold sun would filter through puffy white clouds,
Drift lazily amongst the azure blue sky;
Its warm tongues would press against my skin,
Encasing me in its heavenly glow, like a kiss to aching wounds.
The aroma of dewy grass and freshly planted roses
Perfumed the air, sparking my senses,
Driving me over the edge of pure ecstasy.
Locking me in a state of pure bliss.
It amazed me, how easily Mother nature could coexist with man.
But the day, no matter how rich and impervious,
Would always come to a close;
Its beauty fading with the vibrant sun,
Tucking itself away beneath the earth.
Pitch black splattered against the blue skies,
Like thick, oily paint staining a canvas.
Dim moonlight would desperately stretch to grasp darkened corners;
Happiness would fade with the slap of brisk wind,
And I could only hope, that as the night dragged forth,
That the next day would follow the same lead as the last.
All I wanted was the sun.
