What could he mean by that? Why would he state that? Jayden stared at the woman who had placed her clothing items on the counter and pulled out her debit card. Amanda stared intently as Jayden scanned each item, quietly muttering the total before staring at the back room. Her skin crawled, causing her to shiver. Her energy level had dissolved, beginning the worries of her coworker. Pushing Jayden out of the way, Amanda dealt with the costumer, giving her apologizes and explanations no one had time for. Once the woman had left, Amanda turned to Jayden, her arms crossed over her chest. "Honey, are you feeling OK?"

She snapped out of her fascination with the cabinets at the back of the room, rubbing her eyes. "Hm? What? I'm fine. Really. Just… tired."

"Are you sure?" Jayden nodded as another costumer approached. Quickly, Jayden scanned through, trying to be as polite as she could. "You seem distracted."

Amanda insisted as Jayden turned to her watch. Annoyed with the persistence, Jayden pulled her hair up in a pony tail. "I'm just really tired. That's all, I promise."

"OK…" Amanda said as though she were thinking of a cure. "Go home Jayde. I'm fine here and your sisters might be clawing each other if you don't get there."

"Bu-"

"No buts. Go." She insisted, handing Jayden a twenty from her pocket. "And give them my best."

Jayden grimaced as she took the twenty before hugging Amanda. The streets were empty already, giving her the sensation to run. Ignoring her flight instinct, she walked the empty streets, enjoying the crisp air of November, getting herself prepared for the inevitable argument she would have with two of the three. She thought of Christina's tears that somehow increased her pace. She flung the door open, not bothering to listen to the previous conversation. "OK, we got food! And cable. Now, let's hope for light… Oh, we have that too."

Sandra and Hilary dropped their voices as Jayden's once happy mood disappeared like her energy. "Is something wrong?"

Both girls glared at each other, muttering about how the other should tell Jayden. Meanwhile, the eldest looked through the small apartment, her confusion showing on her face. Finally, she sat down, somewhat amused by their actions. "Where's Christina?"

She asked once she had lost her patience. "At least tell me that."

Sandra pushed Hilary toward Jayden, causing her to become very worried as the younger girl fidgeted with her clothing. "The caretaker person told us that your boyfriend picked her up. When we came home, she wasn't here…"

With a shrug, Jayden picked up the phone. It rang twice before he picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hi Zeke. Do you have Christina at your place?" There was a long pause.

"No… Why would I?" The reality of it hit her hard as she gulped.

"This means war has started." She hung up, thinking about that little piece of paper that had ruined her entire day.

"What do you mean 'war has started'?" Hilary questioned. Jayden rolled her eyes, staring at the phone again.

"It means I have to kill a boy. Cover your ears girls. It's about to get very loud."
