As full as the room was it still felt bitterly empty. All the fake smiles and forced laughs. Most of these people didn't even want to be here. I stood the corner watching it all and praying that no one would attempt to have a conversation with me. So many glazed over expressions that I didn't even try to count them. The mayor stood at the front of the room talking in an excited manner not realizing that almost no one was paying attention. It was my job to pay attention. This man was planning on running for president and it was my job to protect him. So when I looked around the room; I looked for any suspicious characters. Yet so far I had yet to spot any. What I did notice was all the stars outside. They shone as brightly as the famous people in the room. The faces of most of these people were all trying to hide lies, deceit, deception, broken hearts, shattered minds, and sad, lonely lives. Even the best could fall down and I'd seen it happen so many times before. They were light stars; they burned and fell. I could practically feel the pain emanating from each person. They each were vulnerable; each showed so many emotions, that is why I choose this I could be closed, not have to show emotion. I am too afraid it would too afraid to break and even more afraid to shine.
