:DISCONTINUED: A voice in my mind cried out DANGER over and over again. I shook my head and got back on my feet; the silhouette about five feet away. I couldn't see any features or distinguish a gender from the stranger. Their teeth were shown in a fanged smile, and I froze, clutching the grocery bags tightly. Blood thirsty, red eyes opened and glared at me.***READ NEWER VERSION***

"There is nothing better than a friend, unless it's a friend with chocolate."
-Linda Grayson
Day and Night: Chapter One
"How do you feel about getting ice cream, Kurosawa?" The ravenette asked me, crimson eyes waited for me to answer. I hummed pensively and tapped my chin with my pointer finger.
"I feel that you'll poison my ice cream when I'm not looking," I retorted .
"Ha ha," he replied sarcastically and grabbed the back of my white blouse. I growled in frustration and swatted at Kurai's hand in vain. He laughed again and tugged me by the collar out the door; Kurai half dragged me down the school's wheelchair ramp and down to the black iron gates.
I heard some of the girls whispering and glaring at me. I rolled my eyes and continued to walk backwards. Disadvantage about being friends with the one of the most wanted boys at school: all the gossip. Seriously, some of these things they make up are pathetic.
When we made it outside of the school grounds, the grip on my collar released, and I could walk normally again. I rubbed the sides of my neck where the collar tugged a little when Kurai pulled it. We walked to the ice cream parlor, idly conversing on our way there. Of course, it wasn't a conversation without us insulting each other. A few 'retard's and 'asshole's were thrown around as we talked.
I pulled open the glass door of the small shop and bowed in front of Kurai. "Ladies first," the response I got was a poke in the side. "Just being polite," I said smiling as innocently as I could.
"Yeah sure… polite." Kurai rolled his eyes and sat down at the window counter of the store. I made my way to the ice cream counter and looked through the glass at the assortment of flavors. Cookies and cream or cotton candy? Eenie meenie miney… both. I ordered the ice cream and handed the cashier the money. A hand stopped me before the girl behind the counter could receive it. The pale hand gave her the money and then retracted back to its owner.
"You didn't have to pay for it," I said annoyed at Kurai. He shrugged and grinned mischievously. "Oh no. What's with that face?" I knew that face well, he was going to do something to piss me off and/or embarrass me. I should've expected what came next: Kurai took a huge lick of my ice cream. He made sure it left a huge groove in the treat and that his spit covered it. Normally I wouldn't mind sharing food, but this had Kurai's spit all over it. I mock glared at him and waved my finger.
"I paid for it."
" I didn't want you too."
"You could've asked the cashier to give my money back."
"Ah, touché." I licked the side of the ice cream that was Kurai free and eventually manned up and licked the spitty side too.
"You must love my taste with ice cream, don't you Kurosawa?" Kurai looked at me suggestively; I raised my eyebrows.
"No, I love the taste of ice cream with ice cream. Now shut up before I kill you."
"Empty threats don't suit you," Kurai scolded, shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Nor you," I sat down at the high stool in front of the window counter and idly licked my ice cream. Kurai sat down next to me and drummed his hands on the counter top. If he was going to make perverted jokes so could I. I made eye contact and slowly licked my ice cream. I could see a dark brow twitch beneath the shaggy black hair; I smirked and continued.
"Is that an offer?" Kurai said, regaining his composure. I wiggled my eyebrows in response, and we both broke out laughing. "Nice retaliation, Kurosawa."
"I know, I'm a pro." I grinned cockily and started munching on the ice cream cone. "Hey can you take me to the mall?" I asked, nibbling on the last of the cone.
"Hmm, maybe." Kurai replied resting his head on his arms. I grunted and jumped off the stool which was near half the height of my 5'6 stature. I tossed the paper wrapper of the cone to a nearby trash can.
"INTERCEPTION!" A hand smacked the paper out of the air and onto the ground.
"Ray, I hate you." I said cracking my knuckles. I could've sworn my twin sweat dropped and backed away slowly. "What are you even doing here," I said, cornering him. Ray visibly flinched down at me. It's funny how I intimidate him when he's more than half a head taller.
"I heard you were down here and wanted you to buy me an ice cream?" He offered. I sighed and pulled out my wallet; I handed my brother five dollars.
"Pay me back," I said making my way back to Kurai.
"Maki, what's good!" My brother waved to Kurai who gave a salute as a response.
"Other Kurosawa." I let out a breath and zipped my jacket up.
"Let's go," I said pushing open the door. The bells annoying chime sounded, and Ray said a good bye.
"Remember to buy the ingredients for the chicken!" I gave my affirmative response and headed out the door. The cool fall air engulfed me as I walked out of the warmth; I rubbed my arms subconsciously to keep them warmer. I felt fabric drop on my head momentarily blocking my vision. I yanked it off my head and saw it was Kurai's hoodie. I shrugged it on, feeling a lot warmer with more layers.
"Looks like someone needs to lose a little weight," I said, picking at the clothes that hung off me. The hoodie fit me several sizes bigger and the sleeves almost when past my fingertips.
"That would be you," was the response along with a poke in the stomach. I growled and tried to swat at Kurai. He was quick to see my response and jogged up ahead before my hand could land on the back of his head. After Kurai was twenty feet ahead he slowed to a walk; I took advantage of my light footsteps and quickly caught up to about five feet behind. I ran up full speed and jumped onto the pale boy's back. Kurai readjusted me on his back. "Yeah definitely you."
I smacked Kurai's head this time, and he grumbled and cursed. "Don't be such a whiner!~" I said teasingly.
"You would be too if you were carrying this much weight."
"Oh come on! I don't weigh that much!" I said, joking being offended.
"Yes you do. So what's in it for me if I take you to the mall?" I thought and 'hn-ed' as I did.
"I'll buy you a cookie," after those words came out of my mouth we were headed full speed to the mall.
