Water spilling over the side of my sailboat, Miniature droplets forming puddles. Drifting off into dark caverns of thought, desperately trying to place the puzzle pieces into a coherent picture.
Jumbled images and memories enter my mind like a flash flood. Impossible to control, harness or censor. Like when your entire life flashes in front of you, except only thoughts, fragments of what had been and what should have been.
Delusions are powerful things, shelters from fear; from things we wouldn't dare face. The scary thing is not knowing the truth from false security.
Seawater pours over tired bones. A dose of clarity. Dosing the flames, flooding the mind and sweeping thoughts away. The fog lifts, and worry and doubt are alleviated. Reprieve at last.
