DAY 1~

.

'Just one glance and my heart noticed his longing

Scared of himself, scared of ascending the stairs…that would lead him to his love

Apart from the ones above him, apart from the ones below

Tough but hurt…I lend him my heart…'

The wolf heard in daze as the melodious words fell on his ears…even if he had vowed not to get close to her but this was something that he couldn't just stop. When she started singing, it made him forget what he was…

He loved her…more than anyone could have loved anyone and he only wished that she would be happy like this.

He didn't want her…he wanted to protect her… her and her smile…always.

Mira's POV:-

"I found my share. What about yours?" Kruti's voice reached my ears, passing the dawn air.

"Yep!" I told her picking up the last paper and placing it together with all the other papers, clenched tightly at my chest.

"Hurry up Mira!" Kruti popped out from behind the dense trees and caught my hand. "Before we are found out… we have to go."

She was right. Our papers had been blown into the town beside ours… Agrion! And so we had broken the most important rule in the history of Leios… we had set our foot in Agrion. Leios and Agrion, these two towns had been rivals… or rather enemies for hundreds of years so we had just done something very dangerous and if we were found out, there was no telling what would happen.

"Even though it is not our fault…" Kruti was muttering beside me as we made our way, opposing the strong winds that were threatening to blow us away along with our papers this time. "…I am telling you, our orphanage has to change location."

"I agree." I said. Our orphanage was situated almost out of the town and our room was an extension so when we looked out of the window we were above the fence diving our town from the forest which was a part of Agrion.

Every door and window facing the fence had been sealed off except ours because I loved to let the fresh air in. i honestly didn't hate the animals and so the window overlooking the forest was not a bother. Sometimes I used to get the feeling that animals were watching me, and I liked it. I loved animals after all. I could even understand what they meant when they barked or mewed. That was the reason that I could become such a successful veteran at this age in our town which was very backward.

"I hate this town!" Kruti exclaimed and I smiled. It was not like she was the Agrion hater. It was just that her moods made her beliefs change rapidly and right now, the winds were the culprit.

"But not the forest." I said quickly and managed to see her roll her eyes from in between my own locks of hair that were going crazy.

"Yeah… yeah… I don't hate the absolutely lovely wild carnivorous hunters in the forest."

This was Kruti, the person who knew me inside-out completely. We were both orphans in the same orphanage and even though I couldn't remember a thing about my parents, I could remember myself with Kruti for as long as my memory went. All the villagers had always said that instead of becoming emotionally attached with every animal that came for treatment and being hurt by their condition every time, I should just treat it as my job, but Kruti had always told me that she was happy with the way I was.

"If you only let me cut my hair…" I told Kruti as my curly, jet black hair blocked my eyesight.

"Of course not!" Kruti said. She had straight chest-length hair but my hair, unlike hers was waist-length and curly "You look better like this"

I smiled. i didn't know if i looked better or not but i couldn't say no to my best friend.

"Mira!" Kruti suddenly screamed and caught my arm. I held my hand on my forehead and was able to block my hair, to get a clear view of what was in front of us and the welcoming sight completely threw me off my legs

A wolf lay in front of our eyes, completely soaked in blood and whining slowly.

"He is hungry." I said to myself, as I understood what he meant.

"And he is dying." Kruti's broken voice said. I looked at her and saw that she had gone pale at the sight of so much blood…

"I won't let him." I told her and ran to see the wolf.

"Bring the cart from our room." I shot at her as I bent down the semi-conscious wolf. "No… we should just carry him" she said "we don't have time.

"It is impossible." I told her and began going through the wolf's injuries. "He is almost 60 kgs."

"We will manage… come on, you grab his front paws- but wait… we have to handle him carefully so um… I think-"

"GO!" I shouted and she started to make her way to our orphanage immediately.

"This is wrong… this is wrong." I thought desperately as I tried to stop the bleeding. "These are injuries from other wolves… he was caught up in some war." The low whine from the wolf's throat confirmed my thoguths.

"Don't worry… I will definitely save you."

Shaurya's POV:-

"Calm down Shakti… I am sure we will find him." Karan's unsure and worried voice tried to soothe his wife.

"How can I?" Shakti cried. Her eyes, brimming with tears, were beet red.

"Shaurya is doing his best to find him so-"

"But my boy is missing since one whole day! What do you expect me to do, go to sleep?"

"Calm down Shakti" her sister's worried, yet firm voice reached her ears "We are all also worried about Rahul. Shaurya is searching for him"

"Yeah…" Shakti quieted her sobbing as Karan put his arm across her shoulders.

"It is all my fault…" she said slowly "Even when Shaurya had told us all to stay there, together and I…I should've kep a close eye on him"

"It was no one's fault" Karan said softly in her ear "It will be fine so don't worry"

…After hearing all those voices how could I face them? What should I tell them?

"Shaurya!" Everyone's eyes dug into mine as they got up.

"What happened, Shaurya?" Asmita asked me and I shook my head.

"I couldn't find him but will. I definitely will. I am waiting for Armaan first. Send him in my roon when he comes. I will be there" I said and was in my room within a few seconds. No one had dared to say anything against me…I was the leader of the pack and Rahul was my responsibility. But more than that, he was my n\family, my precious nephew…and so I would definitely find him even if I had to search every corner of Agrion and the ones that had taken him would have to pay!"

Mira's POV:-

"Are you out of your minds!" The warden exclaimed for the 20th time.

She, Kruti and I were in my and Kruti's room and I had just finished treating the wolf so I thought that I could stop ignoring her now.

"He was dying" I replied as the warden continued to eye the wolf behind me like she was seeing some ghost.

"And you even left him conscious! You are crazy! I am going to-"

"He won't hurt us" I said grabbing her hands. She was an extremely gentle person by heart but when it came to wild animals and Agrion…everyone behaved like this and she was no exception. "I fed him and they don't hurt the people that fill their hunger"

"Why don't you tell her something Kruti?" the warden turned to attack at Kruti this time. some time passed, and after a lot of arguing and persuasion and shamefully begging, I managed to convince the warden for some more time. The wolf had very severe injuries so even after treating him, he was unable to walk right. Kruti had to leave so there I was, alone with my wolf friend when the warden opened the door and rushed inside…

"This is bad Mira!...oh what have I done!" She seemed scared and shocked at the same time "You wouldn't listen to me and were waiting till this wolf got okay and it is dangerous so-"

"I told you he wouldn't harm us. He is in no condition to and if I left him as you say then he's going to die. He was attacked by wolves! He could be attacked again when he is wounded and unable to defend himself"

"I know I know" the warden rushed me "But the main problem is that he is from Agrion! I was scared and so I went to the mayor and now he is coming to kill you along with the wolf for betrayal!"

"Oh my god!" My mind had stopped working as I stared helplessly at the warden.

"Don't worry dear….i am here…I know, I know, listen, you leave him back in Agrion and then deny whatever I had said. They won't have any proof"

"No! I told you I can't leave him to die!"

"Please listen dear! Your life is more impor-"

"You listen now…" I said and found that my brain cells had started working again. "Get me all the weapons available here and meet me at the fence"

"Are you going to fight?" the warden looked at me like I had completely blown off my mind. I shook my head and pushed her out. No matter how gallant I wanted to become, this was a little bit too much...

"Get up…come on…" I urged the wolf and saw him trying to get up and move slowly beside me. As we descended the staircase of our orphanage, we freaked out a dozen of girls while doing so.

:-

"This is worse than I thought" the warden told me as she handed me a bog "many of the people have joined the mayor. The word has spread like wild fire"

I took the bag thankfully and turned to face the fence. I had managed to make the wolf jump over the five feet high fence in his wounded situation.

"What are you doing Mira?" The warden shouted as I climbed on the top of the fence and the Agrion winds swayed my hair wildly.

"Its okay" I said and turned to smile at the warden "Thank you for always taking care of me and um…don't let Kruti know anything about this. Tell her that I'm out of town for a couple of weeks"

"Are you serious about this?" I caught a glimpse of tears in the warden's eyes as I turned my back on the warden Kruti, entire Leion and faced ahead into the dense forest of Agrion. "Please tell Kruti not to worry" I said and jumped off the fence into the territory of Agrion, a place known as hard and dangerous and turned my back on Leion, knowing full well that I could never return here again…ever.
