Inverted Sunset

She walks by, stirs the air, and suddenly

I can't breathe

As if she took it with her

Folded it up and put it in her pocket

For safekeeping

Just as she did to my heart

The key to my very self is held in the palm of her hand

And my soul is intertwined with hers

She is too blind to see it

But by so capturing me, she has set me free

Set forth a new hope, a new life, a revelation

Opening doors that had before been shrouded in a shadow of mystery

Bringing me into the light

Yet not joining me herself

And I realize

What I long for most is her company

In this brand new world
