There he was, Witch boy, Riley thought. She stared at him as he walked through the gym door, confidently. She could sense his aura shimmering, if a little weakly, as he walked up and joined her under the bleachers. Now, don't go getting any ideas. Riley and Demitrius were just friends. Best friends, Riley thought to herself. And her suspiscions were confirmed when he sat down and she could sense it more closely. His aura, and his confidence, were faultering.

"What's wrong?" Riley asked. Demi raised an eyebrow.

"How do you always know when somethings wrong?" Demi asked.

Riley shrugged and looked for an answer. "I guess you're just easy to read."

See, the thing was- Riley knew that Demi was a wizard. And she was a witch herself. But she didn't know if Demi knew about himself or her. So she just kept her mouth shut in the area of magic.

"It's nothing big," Demi sighed. Yes it was, Riley thought. She stared at him with her bright hazel eyes, and sort of drew it out of him. "I-I got called down to the principal's office," he said.

"For what?"

"Someone filled the teacher's lavatory with Mr. Bubble..." Demi suppressed a small grin. "So each time one of them flushed... the bubbles just got bigger and bigger..." Now he was laughing, and Riley started laughing too.

"That person, is an evil genius," Riley proclaimed. Demi couldn't seem to wipe that smile off his face.

"So, they blamed you for this?" Riley asked.

"As they should. I actually did it this time," Demi laughed. He'd been called down to the principal's office so much during his 15 years that he'd lost count. He wasn't a necessarily bad kid, because he didn't do most of the stuff they said he did.

"So what's gonna happen?" she asked, a bit stupidly.

"Already did. You know how this school works," Demi said. Of course, she thought- brutally. St. Catherines specialized in cruel and unusual punishment(aka beating kids into submission with the thing of horror).

"Ouch," Riley commented.

"No kidding huh?" Demi laughed about it. "Ugh, I don't wanna sit here."

"Wonder why," Riley rolled her eyes.

"Come on, I have an idea," Demi's smile gave warning that whatever they were gonna do was against school rules. Riley liked it.

Demi led her across the gymnasium to an unlabeled door on the other side.

"What's in there?" Riley asked.

Demi didn't respond, just pulled out a key that had "master" written on it. Riley was nearly positive that Demi wasn't a Prefect. He also wasn't a teacher.

"You are not supposed to have that, are you?"

"Sister Burkfeild shouldn't miss it," Demi smiled.

"Demitrius Alexander! Naughty boy, you stole that?"

"Borrowed. I won't be needing it once school lets out." Demi turned the key in the lock, and opened the door. When they walked in, Riley gasped.

"This place has a pool!"

"Mhm, they use it for gym classes during the winter, but during the spring nobody comes in here. We should be safe enough." Demi kicked his shoes off, then pulled of his blazer, tie, and uniform shirt, leaving him in his school trousers. He jumped into the pull with a big splash yelling "CANNON BALL!"

His head popped up out of the water, with his dark, curly hair a wet mess on top of his head.

"How exactly are you going to explain your wet clothes for the rest of the school day?"

"I'll figure something out," Demi shrugged. "You coming in, or what?" Riley kicked her own shoes off, and pulled off her socks. She always wore shorts under her stupid plaid skirt, so she pulled that off too. She threw her tie onto the pile and jumped in.

They swam around for a while. Riley started a game of pool tag, which got rather violent after a few minutes causing them to end with a truce before somebody drowned. They jumped off the diving board, showing their best tricks. Riley noticed that Demi's aura was glowing stronger again.

"Lame!" Demi taunted after Riley did a cannonball that gave a very small splash.

"Alright, let's see you do better!" Riley called.

Demi ran off the diving board and did a cannon ball. It was one of those unfortunate times, though, that he hit the water wrong, leading with his ass. The water gave an echoing "SMACK!" sound and Riley heard him yell "ow!' before disappearing under the blue water.

He popped up coughing and wheezing, and muttering a few words that Riley was sure the statue of St. Mary in the corner of the room was frowning at.

Riley was laughing histerically, until Demi swam over and dunked her head under the water.

"A little sore?" Riley giggled.

"Shut up," Demi said.

They sat up on the edge of the pool looking out on the water.

"Janine would have loved this," Riley said. "Too bad she was sick today."

"Yea," Janine was the other member of the "Three Snicker's Bars." That's what they called themselves, becuase they thought that "Three Musketeers" was unoriginal. Janine wasn't a witch, as far as Riley could tell, but she had powers of her own just the same. She had powers like sarcasm, very convincing lying, talking people into doing things, thinking up master plans, and avoiding trouble better than anyone she knew. Janine was a force to be reckoned with.

Suddenly there was a small clicking noise, like a key in a lock. Demi and Riley both shot to their feet. Riley whispered a spell under her breath, and Demi jumped when she disappeared.

"Riley?" he asked.

"Hide you numb skull!" said Riley's voice, coming from an invisible Riley somewhere in the pool room. Demi ducked into a storage closet.

"Great cover, witch boy," Riley murmered.

The man who walked in was a teacher at St. Catherine's, one of the only male teachers. He was in his 50's, balding, with a pot belly stomach that seemed to strain the buttons on his top pretty far. Everyone was always joking about when they were finally going to pop and hit a poor kid in the front row, taking out their eye. He looked around the pool room, and glared down at the clothes on the ground.

Crap! Our clothes! Riley thought. She could have sent a spell right then that would have zapped them away, but that wouldn't be obvious at all.

"Come out!" Mr. Pudgey demanded. Riley couldn't remember his real name, since he taught her favorite class for ditching. So she just called him Mr. Pudgey.

"I said come out you intolerable brats!" he bellowed. His voice sent a shiver down Riley's spine. His face was red as an apple, and turning purple. He sure is a grape guy, she thought to herself, and almost laughed. She had to remember to tell Demi and Janine that one later. If they survived of course.

"I will count to three!" He yelled. Riley thought up a plan.

"One!" wait for it.

"Two!" get ready.

"Three!" Riley shot out an immobilization charm that should have hit Mr. Pudgey, but something was in the way. The spell hit another spell that was flying at him, and exploded into a ball of black light(and yes, there is such a thing).

"AHHH!" Mr. Pudgey yelled, then regained himself. "Oh, looky here! A young witch and wizard, how fun. I was looking for something to... play, with."

Demi was standing only five feet away from Mr. Pudgey. He had turned himself invisible too, but the spell explosion had made the charm give out. Riley was also fully visible.

"Immobilize!" Demi shouted, waving his hand at Mr. Pudgey, but the old wizard just flicked his hand and sent Demi flying across the room. Riley gulped.

She jumped into the air, muttering spells under her breath as she did, and bounded up to the ceiling as if on invisible plat forms. The old wizard sent a spell at her, and she jumped out of the way, catching herself just in time on a column of air.

Demi yelled and huge waves of water seemed to burst from his palms. The old man stayed completely dry, though, protected by an invisible force field. Riley wondered if it covered his head, and did the same thing, but her hands shot fire.

The old man seemed to flinch a little, but was unharmed. With a wave of his hand, Riley fell to the ground in front of him. He pulled her to her feet, and cupped her face in his hand, being sure to dig in with his nails a bit.

"So your element is fire, child," he said. "That is something we share."

Heat ran through the old man's fingertips and into Riley. She screamed in pain, and collapsed when he took his hand away.

"How about you boy?" he yelled. "Let's see what your water can do!"

Demi sent more waves rolling at Pudgey, while the old wizard himself sent Fire. The fire should have been extinguished by the water, but instead the water evaporated. Demi ducked and rolled, the fire scortching the wall where his head had been.

Demi went invisible again, but Pudgey sent out a searching charm, which outlined Demi in a shimmering purple glitter.

Riley lay on the ground, still in pain, and thought that it reminded her of Twilight vampires.

Demi screamed something that sounded like "Anifibus Boom!" which was the strangest spell Riley had ever heard. Suddenly the whole room was covered with... frogs.

Pudgey laughed, "Cute! It really is sad that I have to kill children."

Kill? Riley thought. Demi shot out more water, a lot more than before. He seemed obviously ticked. Then almost immediately afterwards, he sent more frogs. The old man sent fire- purple fire. Meant to kill. The two spells met in the middle and exploded with a huge, purple BOOM!

The pool room was filled with purple, flaming, frogs. The two kept battling, and Pudgey seemed awful distracted by Demi, so Riley took her chance. Through a flying leap, she tackled Pudgey by the knees, and they flew into the pool.

Riley's head popped above water a bit before Pudgey's. The water wasn't normal water anymore, it was bright red. The horrible taste in her mouth told her it was blood. The whole pool was filled with blood! Riley wanted to scream, but then Pudgey popped up and started trying to drown her.

Riley wasn't very sure what happened after that, she was too busy trying to not die. Demi kept trying to spell Pudgey, and Pudgey somehow managed at trying to kill Riley and Demi at the same time in different ways.

Then Demi yelled a spell that sent a shiver down Riley's back. It was the torture spell. Meant to cause such severe pain that it sometimes killed people. Riley had seen the spell only once, in a book she wasn't supposed to be reading. Her older brother wasn't very happy when he found her.

Pudgey let out a scream of extreme pain, and Demi collapsed at the edge of the pool sobbing. Riley did her best to stop the spell, and dragged a whimpering Pudgey out of the pool. She dropped him in the corner and looked down at him. He looked even grosser than usual, all covered in blood.

"What should we do with this guy?" Riley called across the room.

Demi pushed himself up to a sitting position, but he looked like he was about to pass out. "Just leave him there. He won't be getting up for a while," Demi said. Riley turned back to the old man on the ground, but he was gone.

"What the...?" she murmured, then turned around. He was standing over Demi, who was nearly unconscious on the floor. He was sending some kind of curse into Demitrius, and the boy's body was bucking and spazzing on the ground. He was screaming in pain.

"NO!" Riley screamed, and sent fire. More fire than she had ever done before. So much that she got dizzy and almost fell into the blood filled pool. She hit her head on the side of the pool, and when she opened her eyes again, the whole place was on fire.

Where Pudgey had been, there was now a pile of ash. Demi was laying on the ground moaning, tears streaming down his cheeks. Riley ran/stumbled to him.

"Demi, we gotta get out of here. The school's on fire!" Riley said.

"You're a witch," Demi mumbled.

"Yea, and you're a wizard. This is no time to state the obvious! Now come on! Get up, please!" Riley yelled.

"No need," he said, and grabbed Riley's hand. He mumbled something, and suddenly everything went dark.
