There are moments in our lives when things don't go as planned, those times are the times when we forget ourselves and we let our own destiny control what will happen next. The one thing that has drastically affected my life is meeting him, Dr. Peter Cummings. Yet when I first met him, it was back in high school, he was one of the popular guys, a senior, me? I was just one of those celebrities that had her head down and doesn't want anyone to notice who she is or what she's doing. I remember the first time we met and had a conversation like it was yesterday.
I was standing near my locker, getting books out, I noticed his friends nudging him, but who cares about them? I mean, I didn't want to get involved in their ugly schemes to trick some innocent nerd or something. Little did I know then, what I know now.
"Hey!" he said.
I stopped in my spot, was he actually talking to me? Worse yet, does he know my secret? Is that why he approached me?
"It's Kate right?" he asked.
I had to answer him, I wasn't going to just stand there and ignore him, even though we are from different worlds, I found him quite attractive.
"Ya, and you're Peter right?" I finally answered him.
"Ya! So I was thinking, did you hear about the big party, Friday night?"
"Yea" I had no idea where this was going but I had my suspicion, "is he going to ask me out? On a date?" I thought.
"Well I was thinking since you seem like the kind of girl that I would like, maybe we can go together?"
"The kind of girl that you would like?" I thought. "I'm actually busy on Friday." I answered him. "This should teach him how to ask a girl out properly!" I thought.
But to my surprise, he didn't back down. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean it that way! I'm just really bad at asking girls out!" he said.
"You? The mighty Peter Cummings? You're bad at asking girls out? How come you are popular then?"
"I… I dunno!" he stared down at the floor, he wouldn't look up. I started feeling sorry for him, I couldn't believe I was doing this but….
"I guess I'll just cancel my plans and we can go."
He looked up, surprised. "Alright great!" he didn't seem as excited as a guy would be after nearly begging me to go out with him but I stopped the hallucination and nodded and walked away to only be stopped by him again.
"What now?" I asked, already getting annoyed at the way he's acting.
"We didn't agree on a time! Eight o'clock would be fine? I'll come and pick you up from your house, just tell me where you live."
I stopped, I looked down, I can't let him find out who I really am, if I did then everyone would know.
"Um… why don't we meet at the party?"
He seemed surprised yet again. "Look it's no big deal, I'll come and pick you up! That's how normal dates go. Duh!"
"No!" I screamed, everyone looked at me then went back to whatever they were doing. I tried to calm myself down, I had to. "Look I'm sorry for screaming, and I think I know how normal dates go and now if you don't mind I would rather meet you at the party or there's no date at all."
"Ok..Ok, as long as you don't scream like that at the party, I'll meet you there."
He walked away, I know what he was thinking though, I knew that he was thinking what the hell is wrong with that freak of a girl, I may even end up being stood up, but that doesn't mean I won't go, it wouldn't be any different anyways, I'll just go with my best friend, and we would dance together, with or without a date. However, lately she's been seeing this new guy, Christopher, I don't know what she sees in him but hey, that's my best friend Kristen!
As I walked into class, everyone stopped talking and stared at me, I knew then that they all know about the whole date thing with me and Peter.
As the day passed, I kept getting stared at and wherever I went, people would point and whisper things, by the end of the day, I was the master of ignoring chatterboxes. When I went home, it was a normal Wednesday evening, at least that's what I thought.
That's about it for now! please tell me what you think :)
