Budding, verdant,
Like young love,
Still too fresh and carefree,
To know of the sorrows
Of autumn and winter.
Flowers of summer,
Vibrant, vivid,
Like passion in full bloom,
Past the stages of
Reticence and caution
Bursting into full glory
As if never to fade.
Seeds of autumn,
Copper-toned, crisp,
Like two lovers drifting apart,
Fading slowly, but with bursts
Of fiery colour,
Ecstasy contained within,
Future glory invisible.
Barrenness of winter,
Glacial, frigid,
Brutal in its icy beauty,
Concealing the passion,
Beneath the snow-covered surface,
Awaiting the equinox of love.
