Burning Bridges
Author:

I wrote this poem, when I realized that the group of friends that I had hung out with all of my life, were never there for me. Only a few of them, really cared about me. I got a new group of friends that actually include me in their conversations and activities. This poem is about cutting my ties with the so-called friends that never really cared about me.

Burning Bridges

We've all had those times

When we've had enough

You just want to run away,

Or end it all

Instead you cut the cords,

And burn the bridges.

Let go of all the pain,

Cry yourself to sleep,

Turn you music up loud,

And watch the Bridges Burn.

The chains are weighing you down.

Your wings are pinned to the ground.

All you want to do is fly,

And race up to the sky,

But all you can do is cry.

And cut the cords.

Burn the bridges.

Let go of all the pain.

Cry yourself to sleep.

Turn your music up loud,

And watch the Bridges Burn.

I want to help you find your way,

I reach out my hand to help you.

Grasp it tight, don't let go.

Leave behind the pain,

And come with me.

I'll cut your cords,

And burn your bridges.

I'll lift you up,

And sing you to sleep.

Turn your music down,

And watch your bridges burn.
