A/N: I hope everyone is enjoying my poems. Don't worry, this one is different. It is in memory of the best horse in the world. Her name was Magic and she died in early May this year. She was the sweetest, most wonderful horse ever. She was a great teacher and a great friend. I will never forget the time she risked hurting herself to save me from being crushed when her hoof slipped in some mud.

Anyways, enough from me. I hope you enjoy this free verse poem, and please review.

I groom her soft fur

Then put the pad on her back

With her saddle on top.

I tighten her girth,

Slowly,

Always watching her reaction.

And then I tie the bridal on to her head.

I lead her to the ring

And mount.

I have a moment as terror

As I realize

Where I'm putting my life:

In the hands of an animal

More than twice my size.

I push past the fear

And get her to walk.

It's not that bad

I bring her to a trot.

I take my feet out of the stirrups

Laughing with glee.

"This is easy!"

I shout out.

I put my feet back in their place

And decide to canter.

As she speeds up

I can feel her heavy breathing

I can hear her pounding feet.

I see the ground flashing by

With alarming speed.

I know what is coming

So I prepare for her leap.

The silence in that moment

Is beautiful.

Peaceful.

The feeling coursing through me

Is magical.

It's almost like flying;

Absolute freedom

In that moment,

We are one;

Magic and I.

A smile breaks over my face

As her feet touch ground

And we set off

To jump again.
