Piano
The little girl smiled at herself softly as she lay on the soft cushions that littered the floor. She pulled a small stuffed toy close to her chest and stared at the white piano on the other side of the room. Its surface was a smooth as silk and the sound that came from it was that of angles singing. She could hear it now the playing of the piano, the songs that she would have her brother play, and even how his delicate fingers would glide over the piano keys.
The girl slowly moved sliver eyes towards the door which was a beautiful white wood. The door handle was gold and she could see it shake ever so slightly as if there was a giant walking around the house. There was a light knock on the door followed by muffled words. The girl swiftly turned over and snapped her eyes shut pretending she was a sleep.
She could hear the door slowly open and light footsteps enter the room. The door was closed lightly and the footsteps continued to glide towards the girl's direction. She could hear a soft laugh as a light hand began to stroke her long silver hair.
"Raisa are you sleeping" a voice said.
Raisa did not responded except her only reaction was to pull the small toy close to her and curling herself into a ball. Once again she could hear a small laugh which sounded like small jingle bells and she felt hands begin to pick her up.
"Since she's asleep I think I'll take her to her room then" the voice said and she began to feel movement.
Raisa snapped her eyes open and screamed "I don't want to go in my room brother. I don't want to! I don't want to!"
Once again he began laugh and this made Raisa's face puff up in anger.
"It's not funny" Raisa growled.
"Alright you're right I am sorry" he said putting her down allowing her to look up at his face properly.
His hair was a white as snow and his eyes were silver like hers. She enjoyed looking at her brother's hair. It looked as soft and feathery as a feather.
"How should I make it up to you" he said giving her a soft smile.
She pointed her small finger at the piano and said quietly "Play for me"
"As you wish" he said and put his hand out in front of him.
She gracefully took his hand and he led her to the piano. He helped her up onto the bench and then sat next to her. He placed his fingers lightly on the keys. He began to play and the key began to make a beautiful melody. Raisa began to quietly hum the tune in her head. She closed her eyes and felt the song drift her away. It's beautiful melody bringing her great peace as if every time she hears it and worries that she had been taken away. As the song ended she could feel herself being pulled back into reality and the weight had once again been put on her shoulders. Suddenly she could feel herself going into a coughing fit. Her chest was tight and it was hard to breath. Raisa kept gasping for air and she could hear her brother calling out her name.
"Raisa!" the voice had chimed gently in her ear.
Slowly the coughing stopped and she looked at her brother sweetly.
"Please play for me again" Raisa said softly.
Her brother looked at her worried.
"Are you sure maybe you should go sleep after all" he said his voice worried.
"I'd feel so much better if you played for me brother" Raisa whined.
He laughed "As you wish"
She leaned her head on her brother's body and once again the playing began. The sweet song filled her ears as she drifted into a deep sleep.
