Facing Fears

"It'll be a great experience!

You'll have a great time!

Trust us, child.

This is where we belong."

This is what my parents said to me,

During our final days in

PARADISE

But all the laughter,

Roiling around me;

All the silence surrounding me;

The sweet snore of my brother,

Kept me CALM

But what was that?

That ghoulish face?

Is that blood running down its cheeks?

Those big, empty, black holes;

Sucked the last bit courage

Left inside my soul.

It's coming closer…

LEAVE HIM ALONE!

NO!

STOP!

GO AWAY!

It was just a dream…

But what was that?

That thing that ran,

Past my face,

Out the door?

Will it come again?

Will I be strong enough?
