Autumn leaves tumble

past fields of once bright flowers

and fallen soldiers

Do not mourn the dead my son

but thank fate that such men lived

Seeds planted in peace

grow to promising young men

eager pride stirs them

Curse war, the early harvest

now fathers bury their sons
