"Ameria, 'Winter' never existed." He said strictly as if anything else about it was wrong. I looked back to the room to where Winter should be, making annoying remarks to tick off Ludwig. I turned back to try to knock some sense into him, but surprise, surprise, he was gone. I sighed and walked back to my room, where Marie was also gone. Maybe if I go to sleep, I'll just wake up and realize all of this is just a dream. Or is it really me, did I hit my head hard enough to the point I'm "remembering" someone who didn't exist. Is Winter really a made up person in my mind?
When I woke up again there still wasn't any signs of Winter. It now looked like it was evening and dinner would be brought up soon. Looks like I'll be up all night.
Once again I was at the problem of nothing to do. That was until I remembered that there was a music room somewhere.
Deciding that's something to do, I set off for the main hallway to figure out which door it was.
The hallways were dead empty, which was weird but didn't bother me too much. After several doors, including one to nowhere, I found the music room.
The walls were in an octagonal formation and each contained a massive window that took up the majority of the wall. On the left was a harp, in the middle on a circular platform was a grand piano, and on the right was a music stand.
Seeing the piano was the only thing I knew how to play, I went to it and looked over how old it appeared. Of course it'd seem old since it's now somewhere in the 1800s but it was still strange. I pushed a note and the sound came softly and not as loud as my piano at home. I carefully sat on the fragile looking bench and pressed on the left pedal with my foot. The piano was already quiet, but I didn't know if everyone went to sleep or something. Not that they needed it.
Slowly, I started playing My Heart Is Broken by Evanescence. The farther along I got, the faster I played until it was at normal tempo. This reminds me of when Winter heard me play it and I taught her how to play the song. How could she not be real, I have memories of her before all of this DarKastle crap started?
"You play?" I heard Ludwig's voice from behind me. I stopped and turned around to see him standing next to the harp while looking outside.
"No the piano was playing itself," I said sarcastically, "Are you stalking me?" Almost everywhere I went he ended up there not long after.
"Very funny; no one's played that piano… for a while." He said not bothering to turn around.
"But I can hardly hear it, how did you?"
"I simply did."
I thought for a moment before realizing I could've answered my own question, "That wolf hearing of yours."
I could tell he was probably rolling his eyes at me though he remained silent. I suddenly remembered something from the ride, "Hey, how come on the ride version of this, almost every sentence you said was a pun? Is it your goal or something to make people feel stupid?" That got him to look weirdly at me from the reflection of the window, "Do I want to know how simple it was and how long it took before you figured it out?"
"You mocked cutting your head off and said 'Soon you'll be getting your just desserts, but I'm getting a head of myself' while your head was on a platter. I've been riding that ride since I was 8 and never realized that until now, 6 years later. There's a bunch more too."
I could see Ludiwg's reflection try to hide his amusement and that came in the form of a smirk, "I'll schedule literature lessons for you then. Dinner will be ready soon. My advisors are here and you should meet them."
"I don't need them and I'd rather eat in my room."
"You're joining us, it's not an option."
"Y'all eat?"
"You're point."
"Touché… it's just weird." I said giving in. I'd rather not eat in a room full of dead people with me being the only living one, but I didn't want to find out if he'd literally drag me down there seeing I'm the weight of a rag doll to him.
"Is your sister coming?" I asked causing him to, finally, turn around.
"Excuse me?"
"Isadora."
"What makes you think she's my sister?"
"She told me before we were so rudely interrupted."
Ludwig returned to looking out the window, "No, that's also not a topic you should speak of."
"Sibling rivalry?"
"Sir, dinner is ready… Oh, hello Ameria." Klaus suddenly said at the door. Suddenly my perspective on him dragging me down the hallway changed. Would he really embarrass himself by dragging a girl down the hallway?
"No I wouldn't, my guards would handle that for me." Ludwig said once again reading my mind. He walked to the door and looked expectantly at me. Deciding to be stubborn, I gave him the same look back. "Klaus get the guards." Immediately Klaus went and returned with two guards by his side. He flashed an apologetic smile at me and I winked back at him.
The guards lifted me from the bench so I was standing in front of them. Without a second thought I collapsed to the ground into a sitting position. Ludwig just sighed and walked out with Klaus following.
Needless to say, when I entered the dining room, I wasn't walking or by myself. I had the luxury of being hauled by the guards to my chair that they sat me down in. All that happened at the same time Ludwig's advisors walked in startled and confused. Ludwig, not fazed by my grand entrance, welcomed the advisors in, "Sorry the place is such a fright-" "But isn't that the point. Are you going to mock cutting your head off now?" I interrupted. Ludwig gave me this agitated, creepy glare, "Excuse her, Ameria is not familiar with the procedures around here." The advisors looked like they understood and it was such a shame he had to put up with me.
All of the advisors took their seats as food was brought in. One of the advisors spoke up, "Well it's a pleasure to meet you Ameria. My name is Dominik. This is Andrea, Jonas, Lukas, Jana, Mandy, Markus, and Annett." He said listing off the people around me. I smiled kindly, "Hey. I'd introduce my friend Winter but apparently she either doesn't exist or I'm lost because I thought she went missing." I said before looking down at the soup in front of me, Lord knows what's in it. Dominik looked puzzled when Ludwig answered for him, "Ameria's been imagining a made up person after she hit her head."
"I'm not imagining anybody!"
"Would you care to explain why 'Winter' isn't currently present then?"
"She went missing, you know that."
"Do I?"
"Stop playing stupid!"
"Ameria I'm not playing anything." He said calmly which was even more frustrating. He was lying like it was second nature in front of everyone.
"You are too and you know it!"
"She's also developed a temper since then," He said to the advisors, "Shall I request medical assistance, do you feel different?" He mockingly asked directing his attention back to me.
"You're one to talk! My back has a scar on it from your anger management problems and because of your ignorance you're going to just let Winter die. What kind of sick problems do you have to make everything like it's some twisted game for your amusement?" I yelled standing up, causing my chair to flip behind me.
"That's rude." He said continuing his annoyingly calm streak though his eyes showed how P.O.'d he was, "If you'd please sit back down, dinner isn't over and it's not polite to leave the table unexcused."
"Like I care." I said turning for the door. The guard moved to stop me but stopped, shocked when I glared at him like I'd murder him if he'd touch me, "Screw off." I told the guard before I left.
As I walked back to the hallway I could hear the advisors laugh over something Ludwig probably said about my actions. I honestly couldn't care less what they or Ludwig thought at this point. I had to find Winter, and then we were leaving. I guess the only place to start would be the shed from that weird dream.
I headed for the hallway that led to the living room Winter and I first came across when we arrived. I had made it to the living room and was halfway to the door when Ludwig appeared in front of me. "You need to go back and apologize for your beyond rude behavior. Someone of your age should at least have some manners and respect, you're such a disgrace." He said obviously trying not to growl.
"I will when we find Winter." I retorted.
"Winter doesn't exist; live with it."
"What are you, a pathological liar!?"
Ludwig, who had been resting his hand on the back of the couch, was now gripping it to the point it was crushing like a chip. His face was starting to get the look he has before he turns into a werewolf.
Thinking quickly I grabbed a lamp, that was lit, and threw it over my shoulder. He disappeared, no doubt to catch it before the castle went in flames, and I sprinted for the door. I burst through and found myself laying in snow at the bottom of the porch.
Ludwig appeared in the doorway looking calm again, though he seemed slightly irritated. Someone's bipolar. "You're going to regret that." He simply said before the door closed.
That's when I realized he was right. It's night, the coldest time of day, I only had my dress Klaus brought and boots, and couldn't see anything in the dark. This sucks.
