For My Dear Lost Love

This cold black heart beats a hundred fold every time I see you

Tiny colorful butterflies flutter in my upset stomach when we touch

Each breath held without me knowing, each word stuttered as you listen

To my tied tongue unable to speak my thoughts oh so coherently.

Innumerable times I've found myself with the once in a lifetime chance

To touch your closed eyes that I never got tired looking at

To caress your cheeks in many ways I've always longed to touch

To drown you in a kiss I know very well you would never want to have.

The memories I would have wanted to have with you would never be realized

Oh yes, those times so hard to imagine myself in without hurting myself

But I never dared to cross the line we did not even need to agree upon

Especially since you told me you could never return the love I have for you

I could never bring myself to do these things I wanted with you unknowing

No matter how thunderous this heart hopelessly beats for you

No matter how warm this feeling of contentment I have with you

For your weary heart belongs to another, even if not, it will never be mine.

I won't complain nor throw stupendous tantrums at my failure

I won't be angry or bitter at you for your inability to love me back

Even if I am hurt, even if these tears roll down my cheeks I will smile

For this friendship you and I have is my treasure, my only tie to you.
