It's strange, I don't remember anything being out of the ordinary. I got home past midnight from work as usual, put my keys in the door. Drank a beer, played some XBOX or PS3 and fell asleep on the couch. How could this happen? It's too real to be a dream, I can feel things, pain, sorrow, love and hatred. It's not a dream...but it's not a prank...I'm really here.
I'm sorry for my rambling...My name is Kel.
And I was a 23 year old living in a one bedroom apartment with a deadend, frustrating nowhere job that kept me up through all hours of the night.
One night, one ordinary night...I fall asleep and wake up on a medieval battlefield. A war is going on between Vampires and Dark Elves and both sides are fighting over the unholy land of Windemere. None of this has anything to do with me...why am I here? I've never used a sword, bow and arrow or a battleaxe before but I'm wielding them like I've been using them my whole life. What's going on? What's happening to me and why was I brought here...so many questions, no one to answer them. All I know is that if I wanna survive, I'll have to pick a side and fight!
Windemere, The Summer Fields...
"Hahaaahaaaa!" I stopped to rest against an oversized boulder leaning against it and panting like a dog. My white t-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers were dirty, covered with dirt, blood and filth. Clasped in my right hand was a bloody long sword that I'd stolen from a Dark Elf Knight. I'd never slain or killed a person in my life, it's a shocking, traumatizing experience. But my fear of being killed overcame my since of humanity.
I lost myself to the inner killer within.
I was focused on getting OUT of this battle. This huge field was a deathtrap, arrows flew through the air back and forth some covered in garlic others with burning tips. The sound of metal grinding together, sword clashing and men and women screaming in pain as swords were run through their bodies.
Involuntary tears soaked my cheeks as I gripped my sword. "Whaa..whaaa..." I cried resting against the rock.
"A dark elf...no wait...it smells like a human!"
I heard the voice scream out through the usual chorus of death and war cries.
I looked ahead of me to see men in crimson red armor with golden linings, they had spiked armored shoulder pads and helms secured on their heads that covered nearly all of their face. These were the vampire troops, the Dark Elves wore a dark navy blue color of armor. The vampires ran at me at high speed, their mouths wide open and hissing like serpents.
I held up my sword, gritted my teeth and said a silent prayer as I ran at them in return with my long sword pointing at the three.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The vampires screamed in return.
Everything happened in a flash. I threw my sword like a harpoon striking the first vampiric soldier through the chest, impaling him. A jettisoned round shield was on the ground infront of me, I kicked it up at the second knight like a disk it slapped him in the face smashing his teeth and causing him to spit up blood. The shield came back to me like a disk, I caught it with my left hand and strapped it to my right arm in time to hold it up and block a downward sword strike from the third soldier.
"Why are you here, HUMAN? THIS IS NONE OF YOUR AFFAIR!" The third vampiric knight hissed. "I'll make a meal of you and suck you dry."
I pushed back against the vampire and shoved the shield into his stomach causing him to exhale with that I flapped the shield upward and hit him in the chin and he hopped back.
The three vampires dropped and I looked beyond them to see a forest, the battle was going on in the field. The forest looked like a haven, I immediately made a break for it. Running across the battlefield ducking sword swings, sliding under the feet of vampires who tried to capture or bite me and parkour flipped over horsemen trying to spear me.
I ran out of the fields with tears rushing down my cheeks, blood staining my cloths and fear in my chest. I made it past the trees and immediately somehow I was feeling safer the deeper I ran into this forest. I hopped over lush green bushes and ducked under branches as I ran.
I was so busy looking back while I ran that I didn't see where I was going, I took one step off and suddenly foot hit something wet. I went falling backwards. "AHHHHH!" From what I saw it looked like I was falling over a white misty waterfall. I hit the water faster than I thought and I was slowly sinking into the water. The vamp and elf blood washing off of my cloths and filtering out into the water.
I thought about staying under the water and drowning.
My body slowly sank and hit the bottom of the pond I fell in, small fish swamp past me like I was a rock. I simply looked up at the cerulean surface. 'Wake up, wake up please.' I thought to myself. I blinked and when I opened my eyes there was someone hovering over me in the water.
Suddenly having this person appear in front of me scared the shit out of me. My heart jumped and I accidentally let water slip in through my mouth. She was beautiful, pearl white skin, long blonde curly hair and bright blue eyes that seemed to glow. She grabbed me hard by the shoulder and in an instant I was surfaced to the top of the pond.
Again so fast I could hardly believe it, she pulled me to the shore of the pond.
I was coughing up on shore.
She was simply standing there, nude. I could see her blonde haired bush and she didn't seem to be embarrassed, she had no reason to be. She had a model like doll of a body, that was completely perfect. I was catching my breath when she knelt down beside me, looking at me as if I were something new to her.
"Uh...uh hi." I said looking at her.
"Hello." She replied quicker than I thought. Thank god too, I thought I'd be dealing with a mute.
"I'm guessing you don't know why I'm here either." I said leaning my head and body back against a tree catching my breath some more. I leaned my head against the bark and closed my eyes, once again beckoning to myself to wake up.
"Oh no I know why you're here. "
My eyes shot open and I turned to this mysterious woman. She gazed back at me with wonder, as if she were waiting for me to start shelling out the questions. "Wh...why? You? Who...where am I? Why am I...gahh!" Right when I'm faced with the person to spill the beans, I can't ask the right questions.
"This world you're in now is known as Alfar. And you're currently in the dark country of Windemere." She stood up and turned away from me, I had to admit I was looking at her butt. It was so plush and beautifully shaped, every part of this woman looked like it was perfectly sculpted by God.
"Windemere...I know that already, a dark elf knight told me before he died. Right now the Vampires and Dark Elves are at war or something. What I wanna know is why am I here?" I asked.
"Because you are a Spartan...the only spartan. And this world is walking towards Armageddon. You've been chosen to break the siege and stop this world's plummet into damnation." She said turning back to look at me.
I paused. "You...are you fucking kidding me? Who brought me here?"
"It was I, I am Esmeralda. Queen of the Elves."
"Queen of the...wait you...so you're leading this war?" I asked.
"No, Dark Elves and Elves are not one in the same. This is not my war..."
I didn't say anything for awhile. "Why me? I mean...I'm nobody, I work at a burger joint who works the graveyard shift."
"Yet you fight like a warrior, have already killed many vampires just simply escaping. You are a Spartan Warrior...believe it or not, it is in your blood and bones. A normal human cannot stand against a vampire. Spartans in Alfar, are heroes with unmatched physical combat abilities, they are unrivaled in battle and once stood as this world's protectors and enders of war. But they were all overrun and wiped out by demons, you...spartan from another world. Is all that's left and Alfar's last hope at redemption."
"I can't..." I shook my head. "I...I don't know what to fuckin' believe ok? My whole life got turned upside down in one night...Look, I appreciate everything you've done for me and what not. But can you send me back please? Back to my world or whatever. This place is just too extreme. Get some BMX extreme sports guy, a marine or a japanese RPG kid to do this...I just can't."
She shook her head. "I cannot..."
"Wh..." I muttered, my heart dropped to my feet.
"The method I used to bring you here, I used a special stone called the Alkahest Flux." With that she held up her hand and a strange white light appeared between her palms. Forming together from tiny pieces and gold parts was a watch with a silver chain running down from it's head.
I took the thing one hand and held it up, it looked like a normal pocket watch only a abit bigger. "This device helped me navigate to your world, find you and bring us back. The only thing that can power this device is the liquid contents of an Iridium Stone."
"Th-Then go get the damn stone."
"That material no longer exists in Alfar."
I dropped to my knees. "What!"
"The Iridium came to us as a small meteorite."
"This caaaan't be happening!"
"It is your destiny, you are the last Spartan on Alfar."
"I'm just one guy!"
She placed a hand on my shoulder. "No you won't be alone on your journey." She smiled.
I looked away from her, it help so much promise. That beautiful face of hers. I clenched my fists then stood up onto my feet, breathing hard. I'm stuck here in some weird world with other races and I'm told I gotta stop all the warring to stop the world from coming to an end? Dear god. "Esmeralda...what do I have to do again?"
"Become the Siege Breaker...you must stop the feuding and bring the world together against one common enemy. The Demons that are currently holding sway over the world from the Underworld." She replied.
"That sounds fucking impossible to do." I said.
She shook her head. "If you build alliances and get those with power to follow you, the battle will be on even fields." She explained with a nod. "We elves have a greater connection with the world than any other race, and she is crying right now. Crying for her fallen children and crying because of all of the hatred and blood. Stop Alfar's suffering, Lord Kel...please. Her chosen children, the Spartans are all gone...you're all that's left."
"But I was born on Earth, I'm not one of her kids." I said taking steps back from her.
"That may be true, but you are still a Spartan. I apologize for bringing you...I apologize for putting these things on your shoulders. None of this is your concern...you're correct but...But you're the only hope this world has." She looked down. The queen of elves dropped to her knees and bowed to me. "Please."
I let out a huge breath of air, my conscience kicked in. The missing conscience I'd lost on the battlefield, I found it once again in this moment. I shook my head no, everything resisted her. But there was a feeling in my heart that had accepted this already. "Ok...Ok...Alright I'll...I'll do it."
She looked up from her bowing knees and tears of crystal light dropped down from her cheeks. "Just by you accepting this fate, you've already saved me."
"What do I have to do." I fought back the butterflies in my stomach.
"This war in Windemere, both sides...the vampires and dark elves are being manipulated by a demon. You must find this demon and exterminate him, for it is possible for Windemere to be shared by the dark elves and vampires." She explained clearing her face of the tears to look more serious.
I sighed again. "Hokay."
Esmeralda held out both her hands and suddenly a long sword of white steel with a golden scabbard appeared in her palms along with a cerulean blue round shield with gold and red engravings in the center of the seal. She handed both the shield and sword to me and I used the black leather straps to strap them both to my back.
Amazing how I knew how to use it.
"This is all I can give you for now...good luck, my spartan knight." She knelt down to me and pressed her soft lips against my rough ones. Her kiss filled me with vitality, filled me with courage. That kiss took away my fears and doubts about this, somehow I felt like I really could save the world. It was almost as if that kiss was worth everything I'd endured til now.
"Whoa...can I have another kiss." I said.
With that she smiled and kissed me a second time. That time I tried to fight back an erection, with that she disappeared in a burst of sparkling gold and white light particles. I turned towards the waterfall, the direction I ran and the sounds of war suddenly came back to me. I could hear the faint war cries over the horizon.
The butterflies also returned, but so was I, this time with a purpose.
