I share my room with the dead mouse
What now is his grave was once his house
Feeble lying, small and meek
Flys and maggots, on his corpse they eat
Ruffled fur, ears perked, undisturbed
When he died, he must have been perturbed
For now he lays on his side
Frozen forever, eyes peeled wide
Glancing at enemies only he had seen
Tiny paws, where they had been
Had once been tunnels that he knew well
Taking every sight and smell
Living as best that he could know how
I laugh at fate, because look at him now
Laying forever in a corner filled with dust
Forever to be covered with must
Rotten and eaten away
Till nothing but his bones remain
White and glistening, stripped away
Forever dead will this mouse lay
And as we sit, sealed in the same room
I feel the walls close in, now my tomb
With him in eternity I shall dance
For no good life will ever last
I will soon become just like him
My arm another death enclosed limb
My eyes become unseeing, sealed with glass
Because no good life will ever last
