Sing to me once

Sing to me forever

Sing on and on

And I will listen

Sing of love

Sing of happiness

Sing of loneliness

And I will listen

To your melody

Sing loud and clear

Sing proud

For all to hear

And I will listen

To your melody

Forevermore

Sing in life

Sing in death

Spread your song

And I will listen

To your melody

Forevermore

In life

And

In Death

-Chapter 1: Maybelline Alice Nix

My heart stops. I am trapped. Everywhere I look metal bars are there separating me from my forest. I run to the thick metal bars keeping me away from my freedom ΜΆ keeping me away from satisfying my hunger. I grab the bars, trying to break them, but with no luck. I turn around and run screaming toward another wall of bars. I ram my body into, but with no luck.

Shimmering tears roll down my cheeks onto the autumn leaves that are scattered about my cage. My already shaky knees finally give way and I collapse onto the cold metal floor. The bright red leaves remind me of what has happened in this place. They remind me of my sin.

As the hours slowly pass by a familiar yet unfamiliar voice calls to me. I look around, but no one is here I am all alone. I look up at the night sky and a bright full moon greets me. The first full moon I have seen since I came here, since my sixteenth birthday. But this is not the moon I know and love. This moon is not a pure white, but a dark scarlet color.

"Maybelline," a voice yelled. I slowly opened my eyes still half asleep. I rolled over to look at my clock which told me it was seven. I can still sleep a few more minutes.

Before I could fall asleep to the ticking of my clock someone knocked on my door. "What," I mumbled.

"Do you plan on being late for school?" a woman yelled.

"It's only seven, "I replied. The woman was my mother. It was strange to hear her worried about school since she really isn't one to be the 'motherly' type. She was always upset or paranoid and I am sure she has Dissociative Identity Disorder or better known as multiple personality disorder. Though I usually just deal with go with the flow with her craziness because it must have been hard losing a twin sister.

"But you forgot about daylight savings time. So add an hour."

"What?" I shot out of my cozy warm bed and landed face first onto my cold hard floor tangled in blankets.

After getting out of that mess I went to grab my uniform: a white short sleeved shirt, navy blue skirt, a blue bow, and a blue cardigan. But all that was there was my bow and no matter how hard I looked it wasn't there. So in my panicked mode I grabbed every piece of clothing that wasn't part of my uniform to the ground.

My mother looked in and threw Mr. Rumpkins, my favorite stuffed animal since I was a kid, at my face. "It's in the dryer, dimwit."
