Chapter Seven:
Reminiscences of Past Mistakes

Mosby and Zaika returns to the village. Shijou was still unconscious and his condition was worse than before. The doctors were still confused about what was the reason for his grave illness. Zaika lifts George and takes him to the village's prison. There he locks George in chains and makes two guards wait outside of George's cell. He told them to notify him when George wakes up. Meanwhile Mosby stayed inside his cottage. His mind was filled with all sorts of things. And his heart was drowned in guilt. The things George said was going on his mind over and over again. Especially the phrase, "the reason you abandoned your own son, the very reason you killed your wife!" He knew George didn't mean anything he said to him and he wasn't much sad about it either. He was sad because he did abandon his own son and somewhat George was right. It was selfish and cold heart of him to do such things. But he his reasons, reasons no one knew about. Not even his wife. And thinking about all this, makes Mosby once again after a long time lost in reminiscence of his biggest mistake of life.

Mosby and Shelly were married when they were young, in their late twenties. They stayed together happily for eight years until Shelly died of the dreadful disease cancer. Mosby loved Shelly with all his heart and there wasn't a thing that he wouldn't do to make her happy. When they got married, Mosby never thought that he would have to live his life without the love of his died or even that he has to see in front of his bare eyes the death of the girl he loves so much. Shelly didn't tell him about her life's darkest secret, that she has cancer. Shelly didn't at first knew though, when they got married. But when she found out about it she thought it would be better not to worry Mosby about all this. She didn't want Mosby to break down and be disheartened just not yet. She wanted to live more few years of happy life with him without worrying about a thing. Mosby gave Shelly everything she wanted, he made her see the whole world, took her to the places she liked, gave her his love and money. And bought her everything that money could buy of what Shelly wanted. However, there was one thing that Mosby never could give to Shelly, a child. They tried to have child many times but they failed. Soon after many times trying Mosby was heart-broken for not being able to give Shelly the last wish of her life. And soon after this, he finds out about that Shelly has cancer. One day when cooking dinner in kitchen Shelly fells down unconscious. And when she was taken to the doctor, the news that the doctor told her made her the happiest woman on the whole wide world. The doctor broke the news that she was pregnant, and Shelly was more than happy. There was no word to describe her happiness. She had almost everything a girl could ever want, excepting a child. And that she was going to have that too, she felt like the most lucky and happiest girl alive. For a moment she wasn't at all sad that she had cancer and her days were numbered. She just wanted to see her little child grow up and then even she die, she would die happily. But her happiness didn't last long. It wasn't long before the doctors told her that she had only less than one year or one year to live. When she first heard about it, she could hear his heart crack and break. Even the doctors could hear her heart shatter into thousands pieces. The doctor herself had tears breaking the news to her. She knew how much Shelly wanted to see her child grow and how happy she was when she found out about this. When Mosby heard about this he was broken too. After that Shelly was never the same. Their perfectly going life suddenly took a hideous turn. And everything was turned upside down. Shelly never smiled or talked much after that day. She went into a strange shell, she used to talk to her stomach and then burst into tears. She stopped eating properly and stopped taking care of herself. She would miss out medicines and wake up all night watching mother and children movies. Seeing this was killing Mosby from both inside and outside. He couldn't let Shelly, the love of his life die before her time is up like this. He needed to do something. But there was nothing he could really do other than just to be there for her. Some nights, he and Shelly would sit on the deck of their house which Shelly decorated with all her heart and was just like she ever wanted her house to be. And then they would in their deck by the ocean and gazed at the starry night sky holding each other hands. Shelly then used to tell him how much and how she would give up everything just to live a bit longer just to be there when their child learn to walk to talk and when it graduates. She didn't wanted anything else than this. She started praying and crying to God to listen to her. And soon after that she got so fed up with everything, she became suicidal. She attempted to kill herself many times but each time Mosby stopped her or rescued her. She even tried harming the baby, and most of the time she failed but then one night she was coming downstairs from the upper floor of their house and then intentionally she fells down from the stairs. She was knocked unconscious and started bleeding from her head. Mosby was out on the deck when this happened, he heard like something fell down and when he came inside he saw Shelly lying in front of the staircase wounded and unconscious. There was blood coming from her head, and when Mosby saw the blood his heart literally stopped for a moment. His body was paralyzed and he couldn't do anything. Then he quickly lifts her up and takes her to the hospital. When this happened, Shelly was nine month pregnant, and was just two days away from her delivery date. Mosby took her to the hospital, and she was taken into the operation room immediately. Mosby for the first time in his life, he cried that day sitting outside that operation room as he was waiting for the doctor to come and say something. He didn't know what he would do if Shelly didn't make it out alive; he could never stop blaming himself for this although it wasn't his fault at all. He still thought it was his fault as he wasn't there looking after Shelly when this happened. Then finally one doctor came out of the room, and told him that they had to deliver the child today by c-section, Shelly's situation was critical and if the child wasn't delivered then it would result something really bad. But delivering the child early may harm the child and they couldn't guarantee him if the child would make it or not. That moment, Mosby had one thing on his mind only he couldn't risk loose Shelly and tells the doctors to start the delivery procedure. He didn't even think about their child. That moment, Shelly and Shelly's safety only mattered to him more than anything else. And after that the operation went fortunately accordingly. And both Shelly and the child were safe. They had boy child and he looked like a carbon copy Shelly. He had those big innocent eyes and that beautiful smile like Shelly had. Mosby for a minute was really happy to see his child. Happy to see how beautiful and wonderful his child was, but then he looked at Shelly and his face turned pale. "We can't keep the child, it would kill Shelly to know that she will not be able to see her child grow up," this was the first thing on his mind when Mosby looked at Shelly. He took the child and went to the doctor. He told him about what he wanted to do and why. He didn't wanted Shelly to know that she can't be there for her child and her child will grow up without a mother. But if he tells Shelly that the child had died during the operation to save her. It will hurt her but then she will move on. So he told the doctor he wanted to put the kid up for adoption. And he requested the doctor and the nurses to never ever mention to Shelly that the child was alive. He named his son, Emmet Mosby. That was the last day he ever saw his child. Shelly woke up the next morning and heard the news from his husband. She was broken and Mosby was wrong, she was more than broken. She went mentally abnormal after that. There were lots of times Mosby wanted and died to tell her that its okay their child was alive but he couldn't the doctors told him not to as it could harm her mind and brain gravely. Mosby never stopped blaming himself for whatever happened to Shelly. It wasn't long after that he started his search for the cure and then Shelly died. Shelly never knew that she had such a beautiful son. Mosby after Shelly's death, returned to the hospital Shelly gave birth in and contacted the doctor he gave his child to put up for adoption. He took address of the orphanage Emmet was given and then he went there. But the trail went cold from there. The orphanage gave away Emmet to some family living in some Asian country. He tried contacting the family but the number they provided was fake. Soon he found out that their identities were fakes too. And till this day Mosby never knew what happened to Emmet or even if he's still alive or death. But there wasn't a single day he didn't blamed him. The face of young Emmet floated in front of Mosby's eyes as they showered in tears.

Meanwhile, on Shijou's chamber a great battle broke. Alm's men started killed off all the guards and held Shijou who was still unconscious, captive. They put fire on the village and then started marching toward Mosby's cottage. Zaika was notified by some village wounded guards who fled from the scene. First Zaika was shock and didn't believe the guard. But then he himself saw the mob of Alm's men marching toward his way. He quickly gets inside the prison and lifts George up and headed out from the back exit. He took two horses and started riding toward Mosby's cottage. As he was riding he was spotted by few of Alm's men who were guarding that way and they started shooting arrows at him. Zaika avoided the arrow and continued his ways. When he reached Mosby's cottage, he didn't wasted a minute. He shouted from outside and called out Mosby. Mosby was taking a nap when Zaika called out for him. Mosby went out and saw that a mob of angry Alm's men coming at them with fire and archers. Mosby quickly ran to Zaika and got up on the horse that Zaika left for him. In this hurry Mosby left his lenses behind. Then Mosby and Zaika started riding and went out of the village. Zaika and Mosby rode for miles and miles and Alm's men were still following them until they rode far into the dark side of the forest. "Why are they following us?" Mosby asked as he was riding his horse clueless and blind. "I don't know, maybe to kill you or maybe to hold you captive I am not sure. All I know is Alms is not who I thought him to be, he's mix with the evil scientists," Zaika replied as they stopped. "We should lay low and hide in here till the dawn, then we shall start heading toward the east" Zaika said. And then the two of them parked their horse and took George out of the horse. They didn't had any tent or shelter to sleep on or inside. Zaika collected few big enormous leaves and they slept on it. Before Zaika went to sleep he tied George's leg with a rope and tied the other end of the rope to a nearby tree. And before Mosby went to sleep, he thought about how much his life has changed since the last time he slept on leaf. It was July of 1963; Elric and Edward went camping on a forest. They lost their camp, shelters and foods bag and had to spend a week in the forest living on candy bars and chocolates from Elric's pocket. Then Mosby realized something which made him laugh. He realized, "We never knows how we are going to spend tomorrow and we never realizes how gifted was yesterday." Then he went to sleep.
