Yesterday
Yesterday, we cared and loved each other.
Today, we are entrenched in hatred and fear of each other.
Yesterday, we didn't care if you were different.
Today, we despise the different.
Yesterday, we worried about the poor and the children.
Today, we worry about bombs and guns and tanks.
Yesterday, we were brothers, standing side by side.
Today, we are enemies, facing each other on different sides.
Yesterday, killing another was an atrocious crime.
Today, I killed you.
Forgive me, brother.
