Chapter 3: Back to the Future

I woke up in an unfamiliar bed. The only idea I had of what happened last night was seeing a shimmering, radiant light. That was it, nothing else. I got up and took a look around. The room I was in was pure white, including the furniture, carpet, rugs, and bed, everything was white, it was almost blinding. It was crowded with furniture. I barely had any room to move. I rolled out of the bed and placed my feet on the floor. Directly to the front of a bed was a nightstand. I pulled open the drawer. It contained nothing. Not even a crumb. Next to the nightstand was a bookcase. I plucked a book out of it. All of the pages were blank. Even the cover. I peered to the left. I glimpsed a dresser. There HAD to be something in there. Would keep an empty dresser? I pulled the knob on the drawer. Nothing.

I was starting to get creeped out. This was just getting bizarre. I had to get out of here. I scanned my eyes around the room, searching for a way out. All the way at the end of the room was a door. I trudged through chairs and other random furniture, dragging my feet, making my way to the door.

I opened the door and walked throughout the hallway which unfortunately for me ALSO happened to be white. On either sides of me were two doors. I walked to the one on my right and twisted the knob. Inside, was a room much like mine, forget I just said that, EXACTLY like mine. The only difference I could spot was the color, this time the room sadly happened to share another one of the colors I wasn't exactly a fan of. Green. Barf green, and it was as annoyingly, overwhelming as the first room.

I made my way to the third room.

Just as I heard the doorknob click, I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I jumped and turned around.

"Someone likes poking their nose in other's business, don't they?"

New kid again.

"Listen, New Kid, err, Mack, whatever your name is, for the time being could you please tell me where I am?!"

"Please don't call me "Mack", people always mistake me as a boy as you did earlier, my name is Mackenzie."

"Well excuse me for not being able to read minds. Anyways, can you just tell me where we are?"

"Fine, follow me.", she mumbled, not sounding too happy. She led me back inside the white room pulling a book. The bookshelf twisted around, making several mechanical whirring noises. It took about a minute for it to fully turn, making a large thump when it halfway turned. (A/N: Yes…I know that has been done to death already.) She gestured for me to walk through. I heard the bookshelf close behind us. As it closed it revealed a whole new room, the only thing inside was a staircase. I grabbed the railing walking up with Mackenzie beside me. As soon as I placed my first foot on the stairs, the only thing I could notice was a strange, overpowering, smell getting stronger every step further. At about the fourth step, I couldn't take it anymore; I was starting to turn green.

I was starting to gag. Immediately, Mackenzie reached into her pocket, grabbed something, and placed something in my hand.

I heard her murmur something under her breath "God, whatever you do, please get my floor dirty."

The only thing I could do at this remark was roll my eyes. The floor was already filled with God knows what.

I opened up my hand and saw a leaf. That right, a leaf.

"A leaf?", I said, with a questionable look on my face.

"It's a mint leaf, keep it under your nose.", she explained. "It helps get rid of the smell."

I placed it under my nose and breathed it in. It indeed got rid of the smell, replacing it with a clean, refreshing one.

After several steps, we finally reached the top. "Here we are!", she exclaimed.

"You live in a SEWER TUNNEL!? Why would someone even think of living here?"

"That's the point, no one would even bother coming down here."

"And you do because?"

Mackenzie let out a long sigh. "It's a long story." she said, exaggerating the word "long".

"What are you tal-" a loud 'thump' interrupted our conversation.

"Quick! We need to head back downstairs!"

"Aren't you going to see what it was? It could be somebody that needs help!"

"Are you stupid? Anybody with half a brain would know better to go frolicking outside at this time of day!"

"That's it! I'm going to see who it was!"

"I apologize Skylar, I forgot, you and I both have a very different way of life. Skylar already was halfway up. "Wait!"

I traveled up the murky steps and went up the stairs. I scanned the area and looked for a way out. Even over the mint's strong smell, I could still catch a whiff of the foul odor of the filthy, grimy sewer. The sewer's appearance was as bad as the smell, dark and bleak, filled with cloudy, murky water flowing through. I could swear when I looked to my right, I could see something scurrying down the drain. When I listened closely I could hear the sound of water dripping down the cloaca.

I turned to my left and saw a long rusty ladder, leading up the sewer. There were small patches of light coming through the opening.

I made my way to the tall ladder. I climbed up, feeling how slippery it felt under my shoes. Eventually, I reached the top, spotting a small door leading out. Positioning myself so I wouldn't fall, I pushed hard on the door using all my strength and it finally gave way. I staggered, losing my balance, since there was nothing to support my hands and fell. Seeing how far down the floor was, I quickly made up my mind to grab the closest thing I could get a hold of.

I reached my hand out towards the bars of the ladder, barely regaining my balance and made my way up towards the bright passageway, making my way out. Outside it was very hot, the sun burning my skin. I looked around. Outside was a place like I have never seen before, almost polar opposite to ours. The sky was a bright orange, the grass was red, and the sun was purple. The list could go on. It was almost as if negative photo of Earth had come to life. I searched my eyes around the landscape, trying to find where the noise had come from.

There it was again. It sounded as if it was coming from both sides of me. I turned around and saw a strange machine. I couldn't describe it. I heard some sort of strange music blasting loudly from the apparatus, sounding like it was playing backwards. I was being hypnotized. I felt my legs moving closer and closer, and as much as I tried, I couldn't control it.

The music led me directly under it. All of a sudden I felt my feet being lifted of the ground, and with a flashing beam of light I was gone.

A/N: Phew, that took a while. I tried to be more descriptive with this chapter. I was going to write more but I decided to save that for the next chapter. Anyways, special thanks to CharlieD for reviewing last chapter. Be prepared to find out who Creepy Kid/Mack/Mackenzie/New Kid is in next chapter. Any guesses?
