Did you ever have that moment where you figure something out about yourself that changes your life forever? That you are adopted or that your parents are dead? No, it didn't just happen to me, it already had. Ever since I could remember, I have been living in the orphanage. My entire life have been in this building.

I was friends with one of the other six year olds, a girl with black long hair. It wasn't until she had an interview and was adopted, that I understood. Not everyone lives in an orphanage, they have families, where was mine? From the corner of the wall, I peeked over and saw her smiling and holding hands with both parents who looked nothing like her. Her black hair was the last thing I saw, and she was gone.

After an interview that went horribly with a couple when I was ten years old, I thought no one would ever want me, that I was alone forever. I didn't understand what was wrong with me. I just wanted to belong.

I cried that night, and until I felt a hand on my shoulder, did I know that someone was there.

"Sweetie, why are you crying?" Leana asked rubbing my shoulder. "And why aren't you in bed? It's the middle of the night and you are in the hallway alone." It was dark when I woke up from a bad dream. I ran out of my shared bedroom and began crying in the hall.

"Leana, no one wants me." I sobbed.

"Oh honey, that's not true."

"Then why am I here? All my friends are gone. They have a family!"

"We are your family."

I shake my head. "No, no, no!"

She sighed and smoothed my hair. After a while she said, "How about this, do you want to be my daughter?"

I looked up and wiped the tears away from my eyes. "Really?"

"Yes darling, you are special and if no one sees that, I do."

I gave Leana a huge hug and for once, I felt happy.

Leana is an only parent, with me being an only child. I became her helper at the orphanage, and because she lives there, I just had to move rooms.

There was a knock on my door. "Hey." Leana was dressed in a blue skirt and a white shirt. "There is a new child that has joined us. Why don't you welcome him in."

"Sure." I said as I was finishing up making my bed.

When I came to the lobby, I saw Leana talking to someone. She says that she told the boy to find some food to eat in the kitchen. I walk to the kitchen and find no one inside. Strange.

My stomach was grumbling so I decided to take something from the cupboards. Cereal, alright. So I took the box out and pour it into a bowl. I started munching on it, making loud noises.

"How disgusting." Someone said.

I stopped. I put my bowl down and replied. "Who are you? I don't recognize your voice. You aren't from the orphanage that's for sure."

A boy comes out of the shadows. "I do now."
