Chapter 3:

Later that day:

Shawntae' and Tracie were walking to lunch and Chris came up and took Tracie by the arm. Tracie looked at Shawntae', "Here, Shawntae', take my purse, I'll be there in a minute." After she took Tracie's purse, Chris and Tracie went off.

Chris wanted to ask Tracie a question. "I'm hearing rumors about you and Curtis." Chris was very serious about this, and by the look in his eyes, he seemed very heartbroken at the fact that Tracie may be cheating on him.

"Me and Curtis?" Tracie said out of surprise. "What about me and Curtis?"

"I heard that you were messin' around Tracie."

"Messing around? What? What are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb." Chris was furious about this point, because he had a feeling that she was lying. He had his fists in a ball, but he released them because he knew he didn't want to hurt Tracie if it wasn't true. He took a deep breath and let it out. "Look, if you want to go with him, then go with him. I don't want to play games anymore." Chris took a long look at Tracie and then walked away. "Bye Tracie."

"Wait! Wait! Chris!" Tracie was heartbroken that he believed such a thing. Tracie didn't really care that much anymore; she walked in the lunchroom and slammed the doors. Shawntae' came up to Tracie and asked why Chris had grabbed her like he did.

Tracie shrugged her shoulders, "I'm really trying to figure out myself, we broke up." Shawntae' started laughing, "Now you know you and Chris are gonna be back together tomorrow, or even the day after. Remember the last time yaw broke up? Yaw was mad at each other for an hour." Tracie was annoyed at Shawntae', "That was just mad at each other," Tracie started, "this is a break up, us being mad at each other and breaking up are two different things Shawntae'."

"There he is Tracie!"

"I gotta go Shawntae'." Chris walked over to the table, only to find Tracie leaving. Chuckii and his friends was asking Chris were Tracie was at.

"Man, we broke up." Chris told them.

"Yeah right, how long is this gonna last? Two hours? Maybe a day?" Everyone at the table started to laugh. "Man, you know you can't be away from her for long."

"I know, but I can make it without her."

"Yeah right Chris, why did yaw break up anyway?"

Chris looked at Chuckii and then looked at Tracie across the lunch room, "Curtis should know." Then he walked away. After Chris left, everyone looked at Curtis. "Man, what? I didn't do nothing yaw. Hey, if I wanted a piece of Tracie, I could get it, but I didn't man." Chuckii looked at Curtis, "Ok Curt."

Next Day (Valentine's Day)

The announcements and first period went on. Towards the end of the period, Mrs. Foliomer had the list for the cheerleading squad. The teacher was going down the list, and left the cheerleading captain for last.

"For our cheerleading co-captain this year is…"

Stacy interrupted her, "We already know who it's going to be. Tracie Smith."

"Actually Stacy," Mrs. Foliomer began, "the cheerleading's co-captain this year is you."

Stacy wasn't amused at the news; she demanded to see the list. She read the list out loud, "Well, if I'm cheerleading co-captain, something must be a mistake" she looked through the spots. "Who could possibly be cap-? Tracie…Smith?!"

Tracie looked at Shawntae', and she looked at Tracie and then back at Stacy. "I can't believe it! I made it Shawntae'! I made the cheerleading captain!"

At lunch.

"I mean it, I can't believe it, I made it." Tracie was so excited she couldn't stop moving. Shawntae' started to laugh, and noticed Chris, "I can't believe you Tracie," Tracie looked at Shawntae' confusingly, "you and Chris are not even talking."

"I know, I don't go with him anymore, besides…" In the middle of her statement, Shawntae' interrupted her, "Oh no, here he comes."

"What's up Shawny?"

"Nothing Chris."

"Excuse me Shawntae'."

"Sure Tracie." Tracie left the table and walked out of the lunch room.

"What's the matter with her?"

"Oh Chris, you know she can't stand the sight of you when yaw mad at each other."

"Well, did you hear that Bruce go with Stacy? He just asked her today."

Shawntae' was shocked, "for real?"

"Yeah, oh well peace Shawny."

"Bye Chris."
