Well this is the intro for this story it's just been Beta by some who's a lot better at editing then me. the plot belongs to me and the O'C are mine as well. lots of thanks to Kevan Starks for his help or I would suck again hardcore
Like a lighter lighting the room, I could see again, feeling the warmth coming into me. I could hear the most beautiful sound; the guitar in his hands as he smiled at me.
Soon the lighter went out, and everything went black again. I opened my eyes to see the ceiling of my room. It was just another dream. I sighed as I sat up and looked around my messy room. I turned the mirror at the side of my bed and looked at the reflection of someone with a blank expression. This person had long dark brown hair and Hispanic-colored skin with dark forest green eyes. But what stood out was the fact she seemed to have a sad expression on her face; like its been there for a very long time.
That person was me. I just sat there looking at the person I become. Because of the dream, today was going to be a long day. Every time I dreamt of him, I knew the day was going to be long and ** me. Maybe I should stay in bed today. I laid back on the bed, hoping that I could sleep again so I wouldn't face today.
I was ** out of luck turns out. Gin had walked into my room. He looked over my bed and I could feel him getting ready to tug the blanket off me.
"Gin I swear if you're going to take my blanket, I will sabotage your next show." I sat up looking at him, and he just smiled at me. Gin was my best friend, but a bit older. He had short black hair, light skin, and was on the skinny side with muscles to help prove he wasn't a girl.
"Ray, everyone is waiting for you at the bar. Remember you said that you were going to setup in the morning!" He laid next to me. When we were in high school, people thought we were dating, but man they were so wrong. Only a couple of close friends knew our story. "Besides Candy and Sugar send me to get you."
"You know that Tammy hates that nickname." I sighed. Of course I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep the day way; the dream knew when to bug me. Gin looked at me with a worried expression. He knew about the dream and about him, but knew better than to bug me about it. It was too painful for me to talk, about let alone say his name.
"Well she shouldn't have dyed her hair that white! It just reminds me of sugar. Well anyways, get dressed. I'll buy you breakfast on the way." He sat up and left the room. I got off the bed and dressed in a black hoodie with baggy jeans. I wished someone else in our group was good with technical stuff, but as fate had it, no such luck.
"Well let's get going, Candy wants to test sound first then you can do the lighting." Gin grabbed my bag as we walked to his jeep; his guitar in the back seat along with other gear. Gin was the lead singer/guitarist in his band called 'Ace', with Candy playing bass, and the drummer was a nice guy named Quinn. Me? Well I worked back stage for the band. It wasn't like I had a choice. To tell the truth, I hate music, I can only bear it for a while.
"Man, we're going to need a new guitarist soon. I had a hard time with the last gig and I forgot to sing a couple lyrics. I was too busy with the guitar." I knew what he was talking about. Gin almost didn't sing a full song because he was too absorbed in his guitar. Luckily, Candy was able to sing the song. "There were plenty of people that called this week, but most of them were teenagers. Did any of them read the sign? It says experience with guitar."
"That bad huh?" I just looked at him with daggers in my eyes. It was bad, most of them didn't even know how to play and the ones that knew wanted to make 'helpful' changes. In other words they wanted to be the leader of everything. "There were a few I thought were good, so I would put up an audition after the gig today; like Saturday evening. I asked them to come out this evening to watch the band play." Gin just ruffled my hair and smiled. We finally got to our destination: 'Gin and Tonic house'.
Gin and Tonic House is a great bar where bands come to play. It's hard to get a gig here but since we knew the owner, we've known him/her since we were little, we can play anytime we want without paying. Plus, Gin was named after this place by his dad, since they were good friends.
We walked into the place and I looked around for Candy. She would want me to help with sound right away. Sure enough, she came right up to me and took my bag and put her arm in mine. Candy Madison was a funny person with attitude. She had long pink, cornrow hair and was very tan, short, and skinny. Anyone who knew the rocker knew to never pick a fight with 5'3" woman.
"Finally! I thought he would just go over to your place and sleep AGAIN!" She turned her head in Gin's direction. Gin followed us to the stage carrying his guitar on his back. I smiled; Candy was one dedicated rocker. Now that Ace was finally getting noticed (after a year of playing at bars), we had a van to go to other towns.
"That was only, like, three times! Anyways where's Sug—"
"GIN IF YOU KEEP CALLING ME THAT NAME I WILL POST THOSE PICTURES OF YOU FROM HALLOWEEN!" Tammy was on the balcony looking down at the stage and Gin; more like glaring; I just laughed, I knew what she talking about, Gin in drag queen-mode. He just grinned at her. Tammy Cloven, childhood friend and leader of Queen of Chain Hearts band. The Hispanic girl with once black hair, now turned white, was beautiful, tall woman. "Fine I won't, at least not in front of you…" he whispered that last part to me and Candy.
I started checking sound with Candy first, and then Quinn. He was the drummer for Ace, a nice guy with very pale skin and medium, light brown hair. He was tall and not built. Last but not least, Gin. Tammy was hanging out with Candy after I finished with her. Gin was singing when I noticed something wrong with one of the speakers. Great… it's just not my day.
"Gin stop singing I need to fix one of the wires up here. I think the speaker on the left side is unplugged from the mic " He gave a thumbs up sign and I started to take out the back and check the wires. Bad thing to do… you would think that after taking classes in high school and year of experience that I wouldn't to put my hand in such a cramped place with lots of wires.
I screamed and pull my hand out fast. I must of left the mic on up here because Candy was the first to run up here with the others right behind her. My fingers were a little black at the tip. I had shocked myself.
"Ray are you alright?!" She grabbed my hand and looked over my fingers and started to massage my hand. After that, it felt a lot better.
"Thanks, I was just a little stunned at what happened" I looked at my hand after she let go. Raid came up to the sound-check room. Raid Smith was the owner's son; he worked here with the bands and was a part-time bartender. He was older then all of us. He knew Gin, Tammy, and me before we could even talk. He also knew him.
"What happened here? I just heard screaming." I just blushed; of course this wasn't my day. Luckily the bar wasn't open yet or the whole bar would've heard me scream.
"Ray got shocked by the wires in the back of the controls." Gin answered back. He looked slightly angry at what happened. "I told the staff to put mouse traps up here last week, but I guess they didn't. Now look at what happened." Raid was very mad at the staff who now stood behind him, he must not of heard them come up behind him.
"It's okay you guys, as you can see, I'm not dead." I waved my hand in front of them and Raid told me to go down to the bar area with Tammy to get some cream for my hand, just in case. I tried to protest but Gin and Tammy took me by the shoulders and pushed me out of the control room. Raid saw the staff and ordered them to take care of the controls and wiring while giving them a long lecture of what could have happened, I wouldn't have minded, but they left the mic on; so we could hear the lecture too until someone up there noticed the mic was on. I had to admit I felt kind of bad for getting shocked.
