Hawaii (without apostrophe)
It's the tourists who run
when it rains, even though it lasts
only a few minutes before the sun
comes out to towel you down.
It's the timeshares situated in gated resorts
complete with pool, hot tub, Olive Garden,
and beach with imported white sand
so the lava can be placed behind viewing glass.
It's the hotel-luaus, golf, cruise ships, and
shoving the person in front of you
to take a picture of the manta ray,
attracted by the boat's spotlight
pretending to be the moon.
