This poem is to all of the deadbeat fathers out there who only take their children because they feel like they have to. It's a daughter's note to her father...in poetry form. c 2012 by S. A. Arkenburgh Remember: Copying is forgery, and forgery is ILLEGAL! Oh, and I LOVE REVIEWS!

Tell me, Daddy
Do you even care at all?
Because you're not here
To catch me when I fall.
Show me you love me.
Will that ever start?
Or are you just
Playing games with my heart?
Tell me, Daddy
Do you love me?
Or am I
Just another source for money?
Am I your baby?
Please don't say "maybe".
I couldn't help that I was born!
Tell me, Daddy
What was marriage like?
Mom said you two separated
Because of all the fights.
Was it my fault?
Am I to blame?
Is it because
I don't have
Your last name?
Tell me, Daddy
Will you come to my game?
Oh, you're busy?
Well, that's a shame.
I thought just maybe
You could see
What a great daughter
I could really be.
Tell me, Daddy
Will you be there when I have
Kids of my own?
No? Well, that's too bad.
You could come and see
What it's like to be
A parent to a baby…
Tell me, Daddy
Will you cry?
When the years
Fly by and by?
I'll be successful
And my husband will be, too.
He'll know how to be a father.
Now, how about you?
Tell me, Daddy
Do you even care at all?
Because you're not here
To catch me when I fall.
