This is my own poem which is inspired by a famous character in history, Helen Keller. It takes you through the most important events in her life. Unlike so many of us who actually CAN see, Helen is a girl who will always seek to find the light her eyes will never perceive. I think she has found it, don't you? Copyright August 10th, 2012. I'm so sorry for not updating earlier! I was super-busy with my school. And I have some announcements: Because of school, slower updates – obviously. Also, this account is completely mine again – as in Ray's. Jason and Lauren only share with me during the summer. Anyways, this poem is inspired by Helen Keller, who is a historical figure (I think). She's such a great role model I think… So…let the poem begin! I hope you like it!
The Girl Who Sought Light:
My name is Helen. I am three.
My eyes are blind. I cannot see.
My ears might've disappeared,
Because I have nothing to hear.
My name is Helen. I am five.
I am as vicious as a bee hive.
I chase my grandmother around the house.
A game of cat and mouse.
My name is Helen. I am seven.
Mother brought someone who can see.
She says that she will try and teach me.
Teacher and I went out to play.
I found some water. It began to spray.
Teacher spelled water out for me.
And then I realized, that I could "see."
I am Helen. I can talk.
It feels like my mouth is chalk.
I've told my parents I wanted to learn.
I will hold awards I'll have earned.
I am Helen, twenty-four.
I am different from before.
I have graduated from college.
My head filled with more knowledge.
I am Helen, thirty-five.
I don't think I can survive.
My teacher went with another man.
Leaving me to alone with my hands.
I am Helen, fifty-six.
Trying to make a cookie mix.
They said teacher had passed away.
Leaving me to live astray.
But I am Helen, tall and strong.
I know the right from the wrong.
I will survive and always fight.
Because I long to see the light.
I will always be Helen.
The girl who will fight.
Helen Keller,
The Girl Who Sought Light.
My first poem! Did you like it? I know it was kinda crappy, but cookies to you kind people if you review! (::) HUGS! (I did not make this, an awesome author named joybella on FanFiction did. Anyways, hugs to all! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ Yay! Now, the cookie mix thing did not happen, but that was just my idea... Anyways, hope you enjoyed!
