I see your posts about a girl
Who you miss terribly
And somehow I like to think
That girl is me.
The one you miss as you take off
On adventures new and free
In my heart I like to think
That girl is me.
The girl who, after all this time
Is still fresh on your mind
And who always will be
I really want to think
That girl is me.
Because
When I think of you
I think of the man
Whose silence pushed me away
The one who always spoke
Such beautiful words to me
What would happen if you knew
That he is you
The one who looked at me
With that look in his eyes
How could you not see
That you are he
So if you feel the same
Maybe we can stop the blame
Go back to what we had
And continue from there
Create something beautiful
Something we can share
But until I know for sure
Until you speak to me
I'll continue to pretend
That girl is me.
A/N: Alright. So there's this guy. In high school, we were really close friends despite the fact that he did not go to my school. When I started college, I would occasionally send him messages on Facebook but he only responded once or twice. After that he responded only if I asked him a direct question and he would only answer the question. (He's a year younger than me so he wasn't in college at the time) Eventually we just stopped talking. The problem is, I kinda have a thing for him. He's different from most of the guys I know in a good way. I've noticed that every once in a while he'll post vaguely worded statuses about some girl who he misses. And that's what this poem is about.
