Just a twinkle in my eye…

Were you going to look at me? I was hoping that you would

Standing with my eyes on you and praying all I could.

Did you even see me there, standing near though I was?

Would you care to find me, really, amidst all the applause?

.

Now you are a star above, away from the rest of us

But we go back to times, before, the start of all the fuss.

You knew not what was in you, but I felt your fire burn

The world did not see you yet, and you had lot to learn.

.

Did I not take you to the doors of chance, and push you on?

In darkness till your fire of talent brightened a new dawn.

Now I stand in the chill of your success, like any other fan

Still warm from those old memories of how it all began.

.

Will you even know me now that you are high up there?

Now that you have made it big would you even care?

Sharing you with the whole wide world is fine with me

In my heart though I still hope for what may never be

.

The part of you that we shared when it was just me and you

Will be with me forever in time, and stay just mine for true

Though now a star that shines for all from up in the far sky…

You will always remain to be my own twinkle in the eye.

.
