Being a hero certainly isn't ideal. Your life consists of dangerous risks, making minimum wage, dealing with abilities you can barely control, and being forced to cooperate with a uncooperative team. So why do it? Because when you are born with abilities such as yours, you have no choice. After all, you're one of few that actually survived training. Lucky you.

'Ink, did you find anything yet?' Psyche's presence had many assets, the ability to link them all telepathically to avoid using communicators was one of them.
A young woman donning dark purple hair had pressed her hand against her bare leg, dark purple eyes let off a soft glow, and soon enough the tattoo of a snake that once wrapped around her leg had peeled off, and become 3 dimensional, she'd made it become small, therefor it to fit through the careless crack in the window she managed to make. The creature slid throughout the office aimlessly until Sasha was given directions.
'His information should be in the drive that he left in the tower.'
Ink commanded the snake to release the tower of its drive and replaced it with a copy, 'I got it.' The girl opened the crack for the snake to quickly get through, just in time before the man had come back inside the office. A rush of relief had overcome her system.
'Send it to me.'
Gloved hands grasped the edge of the roof, easily able to pull the lean frame upon it, Ink claimed the information transmitter from her pouch, hooking the drive to it, the downloaded information was sent to Psyche soon enough. The snake the girl had summoned assumed his resting place, curved around her leg.
'I've sent the information to Kitten and Combust.'
Ink gave nothing but a growl in response, she could hear the sounds of footsteps emitting from the stairs that led to the rooftop. 'Then get me out of here already.'
'Will do, Ms. Impatient.'
The technology on their ship was advanced enough to allow her to be teleported away from them, thus saving some time before the guards made it onto the roof. Sasha sat on one of the seats; she was expressionless, which had been seen as normal in her character.
"I really don't like this talking telepathically nonsense." She turned to the Brunette technological expert operated the main frame of the ship.
The male gave her a small smirk but then continued towards what he was doing. "Then you must not be a fan of me reading your mind also."
"You better not be."
"Don't worry." He smirk continued while hazel eyes searched the hologram before him, showing their two teammates, a dark skinned female with black hair and the ears of a cat and a male that donned horns, standing inside what looked to be an underground tunnel.
"Good news, your plan worked Leader, Ink was successful in bringing out the blueprint for you, I'm downloading it into your GPS, now. I also set up a waypoint to the target, make sure you move fast."
"Good job, guys." Kitten gave a sly smile, "I'll keep you guys posted if we need your assistance." A soft purr sounded from her throat, she gave an approving nod towards Leon and attached the GPS to her watch.
The dark haired male conjured translucent, red balls in his hand, each glowing bright with energy, and attached them to the sides of the opening. When his eyes had undergone a bright red glow, it had caused activation, and each one gave a small explosion. Afterwards Leon had easily pulled the opening down. Kitten gave an impressive jump and grasped the edges, hoisting her body up just enough to allow her eyes to trace any life forms in the hallways. She saw none immediately, but coincidentally, there were two ascending shadows peaking from the left corner. Her ears perked up immediately, easily able to zone in on their conversation.
"Did you see him, yet?"
"No, was the experimentation successful?"
"Yeah, he looks just like an actual Doll, Boss is really going to love him, and he has amazing power."
"Well then he'll sell for a lot and we can get some kind of bonus on our crappy paychecks."
Not needing to hear anymore, she looked towards Leon and nodded, pulling her own body completely up, Leon followed suit. They each set her watch to its image inducer. Not really wanting to engage in actual combat Kitten gave a nod to Leon.
'Quick and painless.' The thought she sent towards him was carried out when the two revealed themselves. Each operative quickly snatched them and held them in a chock hold until their bodies went limb.
The feline girl scanned them with the image inducer, and Leon did the same, tossing them into the hole they made and quickly covering it. What she loved much about the Image inducer was the way it managed to alter their physical appearance. When scanned the person would develop the appearance of whatever they scanned. It was because of this that they both then appeared to be guards.
"Guess it's smooth sailin' from here, huh?" Combust pulled up his GPS and began yonder way, Ember followed closely behind.
"Don't say things like that, something always goes wrong afterwards."
"You watch too many movies." Leon turned the corner.
"This place is huge, Boss must be stacked."
"Yeah, his wealth is through the roof."
"Hey! What are you two doing?"
Combust and Kitten gazed at each other for only a moment as they turned to the officer that alerted them. Combust continued to talk, "We're guarding the prisoner, Sir."
"I thought Lin and Jake were guarding it."
Kitten spoke up, "They got called to guard the outskirts, seems like they spotted foreign objects outside."
"Damn, alright then get in there, I'll help outside."
"Sir?"
"What is it, soldier?"
Kitten placed a hand on his shoulder this time her eyes gave off a green glow, luckily her tinted visors could hid it easily. "Watch your back out there, the security system is down."
Leon caught the man as he stumbled back, from sudden fatigue, and shot a warning glance at Kitten.
"Are you okay, Sir?"
"Yeah, I just felt weak for a moment there, that's all." He managed to be back on his feet a few moments later, which was appropriate since Kitten didn't deprive him of too much energy. "You guys quickly get back to work."
"Yes, Sir!"
When he finally did leave they continued their trek to the elevator, which, due to the key that snatched from the unexpected guards earlier, would lead them to the new Doll. During the wait Ember took a deep sigh.
"You wanna maybe give me a warning the next time you absorb somebody's energy?"
"I only took enough to see a few memories, if I can sort through them I can find the password to the research lab." Kitten opposed her power but had to admit it had perks that made her job that much more convenient. One of its best attributes was being able to do such absorption techniques. "Got it."
"You've never done that to me, right?"
A Cheshire smile came about the feline's lips, "Let's go."
After Kitten punched in the unnecessarily long passcode they finally gained access to the lab and their target was in plain sight. Of course the scenery was what one would expect from a laboratory. Dim lights, computers and foreign machinery occupied the walls, and in the far off center was a tube that held him, their newest recruit. It was empty, since they had chosen off hours to proceed with their infiltration; the scientists were done for the night.
'Brian we're here.' Ember's face and innards cringed with disgust. The sight was all too familiar scientific sadists altering lost souls for their own profit and selling them to random customers for them to do as they wish. Her fists clenched with animosity, that wasn't going to happen if they had anything to say about it.
'Good' he responded immediately, 'Leon, the release button she be on the mainframe, the second one down from the top left corner, it should be bright red and kept enclosed by a case, break it.'
Kitten converted back to her original form, as her ears rose high, her tail swayed idly behind her. She was close enough to place a hand on his low temperature tubing. He stood suspended in midair, with hair the color of snow and an angelic face. Whoever altered him had certainly researched Dolls to the best of their ability. It seemed as though even a black market Doll was no different. Her ears twitched at the acute sound of a 'click' and the front of the tube had opened, a chilly air caused a rush of coldness down her spine. The antigravity mechanism had been disabled, and he fell right into her arms.
'We got him' Kitten stroked his cheek with her claws, careful not to break the flawless skin. His barcode was located on the right side of his neck, making her instantly remember the one on her right thigh. Where she was from, she sold for a quite a bit of money, he would have been no different. "Alright, we gotta get moving to the ro-"
"Ngh." The foreign voice had suddenly caught her attention, as they boy on her lap began to move. His eyes fluttered open to reveal golden amber hues, but they were dazed and signaled that his mind was somewhere else. "Amy?" He cupped her cheek with his hand and without any warning to her his lips were soon against hers. Kitten was in a state of shock that wouldn't allow her to react immediately to the situation but she was just as confused.
'What the-?'
When he finally did let her go, this seemed like an eternity later, his eyes narrowed. "You- you're not…" Then just as easily as he had awakened, he was back asleep.
"What was that?" Leon walked over to them.
Her cheeks burned, which made her believe she might have been blushing. This stemmed from her not even being comfortable with touching, let alone strange kisses, "I have no idea, let's just go."
"Hey! What the hell are you two doing?"
'Damnit!' Ember turned to the guard obviously flustered too much to deal with the situation, "Combust!"
Just as soon as he was called Leon had caused an explosion on the ceiling above the small group, causing debris to fall upon each of them. Leon's power was highly destructible, which caused Ember to question if it was safe to use indoors.
"Let's go, Combust." Since due to being ability to manipulate her own energy, she was physically the stronger of the duo, she hoisted the new recruit over her shoulder and followed suit after Leon.
"The other guards should be meeting us pretty soon; we have to hurry to the roof." The guards they beat up had communicators, and upon realizing they were down, aid would soon be on their way.
"Got it."
Unfortunately as soon as they came to the elevator, they were met by guards, who wasted no time in spraying bullets. Quick-mindedly, the black haired girl created an energetic force field, her eyes glowed a bright crimson once again. Taking a detour, they managed find a flight of stairs.
'Psyche, we're getting to the roof!'
'I'm on it!'
Eventually they made it to the roof, and Ember disengaged the force field. Just like Brian had spoken, the ship was soon directly above them. The platform lowered, high from the ground but low enough for it to be an easy leap.
Kitten made an easy jump onto the platform and propped her newest teammate against the railing. The guards they managed to outrun came soon afterwards, and Leon remained on the ground. He held a hand to the ground as ice began to occupy it, making a trail towards the guards that were blocked by a large wall of the frozen liquid. Only then, did he make his way onto the platform, and it rose immediately.
"You guys alright?" Psyche set up the ship's main defense, a field that registered it invisible to the naked eye.
"Fine." Ember pressed the button on the wall that allowed a bed to lower and set the man down upon it, soon afterwards he was joined by Sasha, also known as Ink.
"So that's it, huh?" She folded her eyes, giving an 'unimpressed' expression towards the newbie. "Doesn't look like much, is he s'pose to be some sort of prize?"
"General just said to rescue him so we did; I guess he's joining CLEAR now." Ember plopped upon one of the seats.
Brian knelt down beside him and placed a hand on his forehead, one of the limitations for a telepath was that the only way to truly enter the mind was for the target to be asleep. His eyes glowed the overly familiar crimson, "His mental patterns are a bit unstable."
"No shit, when he woke up he planted one on Ember."
Sasha raised an eyebrow to the statement, "Seriously?"
"He called me Amy." The female began to play with her own tail, something that she normally did when something bothered her. "I don't know what the hell that was about."
"It's possible you bare a resemblance to somebody from his past." Brian's eyes turned their normal brown, "Maybe we'll have to wait and see."
"No shit."
"Did he say anything else?"
"Nope, just that, the rest was just random muttering"
"That's strange. I guess we'll have to wait and see what our medical staff has to say when we get back to base."
"Well regardless of that, one thing's for certain." Leon propped himself up against the wall beside him.
"What's that?"
"The newest team of CLEAR is finally complete."
After seven years of planning this is the sort of superhero-ish story I've finally gotten around to writing and publishing.
Please let me know if you like it! Read and Review, and I will definitely appreciate any sort of constructive criticism.
Thanks!
