Monster

Prologue

The old man walked across the pavement paying no heed to the hustle and bustle of the busy shop sellers who were shouting out the prices of their items.

"A flower for you sir!" a man shouted out.

The old man raised his hand and shooed the shop seller away.

A young boy raised a pot towards the old man. The old man smiled at the boy and patted the boy's head.

"Working at such a young age, you are a good boy," he told the boy.

The boy smiled and asked if the old man would like the pot.

"No," the old man replied still stroking the boy's head.

"Where is your parents boy?" the old man asked.

"I'll bring them to you," the boy said and pulled the old man's hand.

"No, I was only asking," the old man said but had no choice but to follow the boy as the boy pulled him.

The boy pulled the old man passed the make shift shops, passed the bust street and into a deserted alley. The alley was small and dark. It smelt of dead rotten rats and swill water splashed at the old man's feet.

"I live here," the boy whispered.

The old man frowned.

"You live here boy?"

"Yes," the boy rasped. His voice deeper than before.

The old man gasped and fell back, blood gushed from an open stump. Where his head had been was just matted flesh. Blood flowed through the alley and the boy smiled, sharp teeth glinting on ends.

"I live here," he rasped.

Chapter 1

New world order

Aman punched the wall with his bare hands, punching it hard feeling the pain and smiling to himself. He liked this, the pain building up in his knuckles. Sweat gushed from his body and flowed through it. Young muscles ripped through his arms, chest and legs. He moved swiftly, punching the wall with ease. His slightly tanned skin and black hair was soaked with sweat as he moved.

"What in heaven's name are you doing Aman?" his friend Shiva, a young 22 year old man exclaimed. "You're supposed to be punching the punching bag!"

"The punching bag is for wimps," Aman retorted.

"Wimps! It's for civilized people, come use the punching bag."

"Lol, excuses, you guys are wimps," Aman said, punching the wall again, each whamp sending chills up Shiva spine.

"You are mad you know that Aman," he said and Aman chuckled in delight, another whamp into the wall and he rubbed his knuckles.

"This feels super good."

Aman would like to be known as a monster. A monster, yes, because he wanted to feel nothing and move on with life, like a machine, yes. A machine with no feelings, as having no feelings allows one to be strong. As he moved across the night road feelings his swollen knuckles throbbing, he smiled to himself.

The speed meter climbed to 130km/h as he sped across the high way. He dodges a red car and cursed as a white car in front of him suddenly did a break. Aman stepped on the brake pedal and fruitfully ramps into the white car. There was a solid sound and Aman cursed as his head hit the steering wheel. The air bags burst from its compartments and flattened Aman in his seat.

"What the fuck!" he shouted.

Aman pushed the air bag aside and climbed out of the car, his hand touching broken pieces of glass scattered on the road. Beside him cars rushed by, not once stopping to check on the accident.

Aman frowned.

Why wasn't anyone stopping?

Aman moaned as he touched his injured head, feeling a bump forming on his forehead. This is not good, he might have a concussion.

No, I must endure this, Aman thought to himself and pressed a hand to his injured forehead. He inched forward towards the white car. I'm going to kill that bastard, he thought to himself. As he approached the white car he noticed something amiss.

Aman paused for a moment.

Something red smeared the inside of the white car's windows. It was a deep red, a red so deep that Aman had a faint feeling he knew what it was.

Shit…had he killed somebody, Aman thought. Panic rose through him and he took in deep breaths.

Calm down Aman, he told himself, you must feel nothing now.

A moan came from within the white car, a spine chilling moan. A moan like that of a wolf. Aman held his breath and inched towards the car.

He knocked on the car door.

There was a deep welling silence.

And then another moan…

Somebody was alive!

Aman reached for the car handles and pulled hard, but the door would not open. It was locked tight. Aman cursed and ran towards his car, pulling out a cooking ladle he had bought for his mom.

Sorry mom, looks like you won't have a ladle tonight, he thought. Using the ladle he whacked the glass hard. The glass cracked a little. Aman grunted as he whacked the glass again, each time the glass cracked.

"Come on," Aman muttered impatiently and with one last whack the grass broke, glass splinters pouring to the ground.

"Yes!"

Aman pushed the glass splinters away and reached for the door handle inside. He pulled it and opened the car door. Then cried out as something lunged for him, clutching his throat hard and ramming him into the ground.

It happened so fast that Aman had no idea what had hit him.

He tried to open his eyes but the pain forced him to shut it tight.

"You stupid fool," the thing that gripped him rasped.

Aman pried his eyes open and gasped as he found himself staring at teeth.

Rows and rows of teeth, sharp gleaming teeth with a devilish grin.

A creature like no idea held him, squeezing his throat tight. With red beady eyes, brown saggy skin and strong rippling muscles, the creature was soaked in blood. Aman felt fear growing in him.

"Shall I eat you human," the creature rasped chuckling.

Aman felt the hot claws of the creature squeezing his throat tighter.

Do something…do something Aman…

However Aman could not move, fear had taken control of him. He was shivering, shivering so bad.

Be a machine, be a machine, Aman thought furiously. You can do this.

The creature lunched, its mouth wide open rows of teeth aiming for Aman's head. No!

Aman kicked the creature hard in the groin. The creature roared, releasing Aman. Aman fell to the ground choking before scrabbling to his feet. He rasped for air, scrambling away from the creature. It was strong, it was too strong.

"YOU!" the creature screamed.

Aman felt something slashing his back. He fell to the ground, pain searing through his back, he felt the warm trickle of blood and somehow Aman smiled. The pain it was hot…like fire…like no other and somehow…he really enjoyed it.

Aman turned and found the creature above him.

"Now you've made me angry you bastard!" he shouted and he kicked the creature in the chest. The creature fell back and growled. Aman scrambled to his feet and took in a deep breath. He held his stance, forming his hands into fist.

"Fuck you," he whispered and punched the creature.

The creature hardly moved. It chuckled as if mocking Aman. Aman punched again and felt the creature tough body numbing his knuckles.

"Fuck you!" Aman shouted, punching the creature and roared in pain as the creature lunges forward and bit his shoulder.

Aman punched the creature continuously, feeling consciousness fading away.

"I won't die here, not now!" Aman roared. Suddenly, his fist felt hot, very hot. Aman gasped as he saw blue light appearing from his right fist. Sudden energy took him over and he punched the creature in the face.

The creature screamed as it flew and landed across the high way.

For the first time, Aman realized that there were no cars around. Nobody was there… it was as if…

"You…" the creature rasped.

Aman looked down and found that his hand was growing brighter; the blue light was shining considerably bright.

The winds seemed to be picking up.

The pain intense was fading.

Had he become a machine?

The creature smirked.

"You are a young one," it rasped and rushed forward, Aman smashed his first down but the creature dodge. Aman closed his eyes when the creature teeth closed around his neck.

"Noo," he thought.

When there was a sudden explosion of water.

Aman fell backwards and choked, opening his eyes he found himself staring at a Chinese boy. The Chinese boy looked at him and turned away.

"You did well," the boy said. "Now let Kayo do the rest."

"Ka…yo?"

The Chinese boy smiled. "Yeah, and well let's just say I'll know you for quite some time."

The creature screamed and the last thing Aman saw was the creature drowning in a column of water.
