Chapter 3: One Pigeon Shot Down the Crow

The next day arrived and it was Monday morning. I looked at my bed side and I saw Elizabeth still sleeping. I leaned over and woke her up.

"Hey, Liz. Today is the first day in our new school. Come on, let's get up." I said softly.

Elizabeth moaned a bit and said tiredly, "Can we enroll tomorrow…I'm still sleepy from yesterday."

"True we did have a long day yesterday…I guess we can chill for one more day and then enroll—"

Suddenly Tori barged into the room and yelled, "Come on guys! Let's get up and go! I called the school and informed them that you guys would be coming to school today!"

Elizabeth and I just turned to each other and sighed. We both got up from bed and started to get ready for school. After we got dressed, bathed, and ate, we headed out the door. As we were walking Tori asked us, "You guys didn't DO anything in my parent's bed right….?"

Elizabeth turned red and put her hands down and replied back loudly saying, "O-OF COURSE NOT! W-WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT?!"

"Well you guys are a couple and all. I would think you guys would want to have fun."

"We're only 15! We wouldn't do that at this age. Don't you know about that show 16 and Pregnant?"

"Well you guys are smarter so it won't end up like that right? Then again…if you do you'll probably make a lot of money and you guys'll be able to live just fine for quite some time! You should get on that show!"

"Sh-sh-sh-SHUT UP! Enough with this!"

"Cooome on! I'll be the friend who tries to give you morale support from time to time!"

The argument continued the whole walk to school. It was actually quite nice to hear the quarrel. It was a refreshing sound and scene in my life; a scene and sound that depicted a start of a normal life.

When we arrived at the school a lot of people were staring at us. It's not that easy being the new kid in school, especially when you're walking with one of the most popular kids in school and you're the only guy in the group. Does that make me cool? What a change.

As we got near the door, two girls came up to us and started to engage in conversation with Tori.

"Hey Tori~ Who are these people?" One girl said.

"Hey Linda!" Tori replied back. She then pointed over to Elizabeth and me.

"The girl is Elizabeth and the guy is her boyfriend Rei." Tori said.

"Hey, Tori, don't go telling the whole world that!" I said back quickly.

"Why? You should be proud that you have Elizabeth by your side. She's amazing!"

"I-I am proud to have her by my side! B-but you don't have to tell everyone…"

Elizabeth looked really red and was looking down to the floor a bit. She was probably embarrassed or something. I kinda am too.

One of the other girls came up to us and greeted us. Her name was Molly and the other girl that said, "hey" first is Linda.

"Come on. Let's get inside. I'll introduce you guys to everyone and show you around the school." Tori said.

"Yeah I'll come too. How bout you Linda?" Molly said.

"Yeah sure. First period doesn't start for like another half hour and I don't really want to go anyways."

"Why do all these people come so early?" I asked.

"New rule by the principal, ugh. Whatever, let's get inside." Linda replied.

We entered the school and it was huge! There were so many students here! But I do know this is a zone school, so most of these people are probably people who didn't get into their desired school. Great, why do I sense future problems with some of these kids…?

"So this is the principal's office. You guys should first tell him that you're here. I'll come with you cause I was the one who called." Tori said.

"You know, that reminds me. How did you make us enroll in the school when you're not the parent or guardian of us? He wouldn't let us in if we didn't have like a meeting with our guardians and such, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, that's true but I told him your guy's story and stuff. I also stretched it out a bit sooo…Liz don't tell him your parents are alive. Also you guys were wandering the streets and I found you guys and brought yous into my house and my parents took custody of you guys, ok?"

"That's such a horrible lie! I can't believe he believed that! He must be pretty stupid…either that or gullible."

"He's most likely gullible. He falls for almost everything. Let's go tell him now."

I sighed. "Right. Let's go Liz."

We went inside principal's office and saw him sitting on his chair sipping a cup of coffee. He looked at Tori and then to us.

"So these are the new kids you told me about? The ones wandering the streets at night?" The principal asked.

"Yup. This is Rei and this is Elizabeth." Tori replied. She then turned to us and said, "Guys, this is Principal John."

"Nice to meet you." Elizabeth and I said.

"Likewise. So are you guys siblings or not?" Principal John asked.

"No, we're not related." I replied back.

"So you guys are friends, right? How'd you get lost together?"

"Well-" Tori cut me off and said, "They're actually lovers! They were living together and their house got burned down. They also had no relatives to contact because the ones Rei was close too were dead and the ones Elizabeth was close too abandoned her. They only had each other to rely on! After a few months of surviving they stumbled in front of my house. Once I saw them I couldn't just watch their almost lifeless corpses move, so I rushed toward them and brought them inside my house and I told my parents, af—"

"That's enough Tori. I can't resist from crying now! We are welcoming you guys into our school with open arms! Please be as comfortable as you can here!" Principal John said choking up just a tad bit.

"Um…Thank you." I said.

"Thank you sir." Elizabeth said.

We walked out of the room and I turned to Tori and asked, "That was one heck of a lie. Was that made up on the spot or did you think that through?"

Tori smiled and said proudly, "It was made up on the spot!"

"Lying must be your specialty huh?"

"Hey that's not true! I have many other specialties! I can cook, I can sing, I can balance a soccer ball on my head for 5 minutes, and this is just the beginning. There's many other things too hmph!" Tori pouted.

"Right. So are you going to continue showing us the school?" I asked.

"Well first period is about to start, I'll show you guys your class. You're both in my class with Linda and Molly. Hmm, they probably went to class. They're not here. I guess we took too long in the office."

"Alright then. Let's go to our class. Hey, Liz; You're not talking much, is something wrong?" I asked.

"No, nothing is wrong. Just a bit tired, that's all. Sorry." Elizabeth replied back.

"No no, no need to be sorry. I understand. You were woken up pretty abruptly by Tori."

Elizabeth laughed and Tori continued to bring us to our new classroom. When we had got to the classroom, Tori took her seat and we continued to stand. The students sitting down were staring at us and whispering some stuff.

One of the guys in the class whistled at Elizabeth and said out loud, "Hey hot stuff!"

Elizabeth then had a disgusted face and looked at me. I glared back at the guy with an angry face not saying anything. It should be enough with my glare.

He then had a wise ass facial expression and said, "What? That girl is yours? H—" He didn't get to finish because the teacher walked in.

"Alright class. You probably guessed it but these are our new students Rei and Elizabeth. Please treat them fairly like you would with your friends. Rei and Elizabeth sit wherever you want."

Man this teacher seems so depressed. He probably hates his job. Teaching misfits like this and getting paid his salary, it must suck. The only two seats that were open was the one in the back and one on the right to that asshole. I told Elizabeth to sit in the back because I don't want that guy to bother to her. She told me that he'll just annoy me but it's better me than her. Once we discussed that we went up to our seats and put our bags down next to us. Right when I sat down that guy started to annoy me by shooting spitballs and what not. I tried my best to ignore it but after a few went into my hair I got annoyed. I turned my head to him and told him to knock it off or I'll hurt him. I'm usually not like this but he already messed up Liz's first day so I have no problem to hit him.

"You think you can hurt me? Ha, I would love to see you try and do so punk." He replied back.

"When do you want me to show you? Right now?" I replied back.

"Yeah bitch, right now! Hurt me!"

"Alright then." I clenched my left fist and jabbed him really fast on the left side of his jaw.

"Arrgh! BITCH! YOU'RE GOING TO FUCKING GET IT NOW!" He yelled out.

"Hey Jack! Sit down and shut up before we call your parents for the hundredth time! If you have business to settle then do so outside." The teacher shouted.

The douche just looked at the teacher and said, "Right Mr. Williams. You and me after school in the park across the street, got it?!"

"You want to play on the swings with me or do you want to stick with the slides?" I replied back humorously.

"Fuck you wise ass. I'm going to beat you to a pulp and afterwards I'm going to take your bitch and rape her till her head explodes! You got that?!"

I just glared at him. No one says that about Elizabeth. That fucking dick doesn't know what's coming to him in that park.

I turned to Elizabeth and by the look of her face it seems like she knows something is up. When lunch time came I went and sat with Liz, Tori, Linda, Molly, and some other guys.

"What happened, Rei?" Elizabeth asked.

"I got into a fight with that prick who tried to score a night with you in the beginning of class." I replied back angrily.

"You shouldn't associate yourself with guys like him, you'll just end up in a brawl and then a whole series of fights will happen after that! I don't want you to hurt yourself when we just got here."

"I'm sorry Liz but I have a fight scheduled with this guy after school in the park…"

"I can't believe you! Why did you go out and provoke him?! See what happens?! Now you're going to get hurt and it's only our first day. I want you to cancel that fight with him now! Please Rei! "

"I-I'm sorry…I just wanted to protect you-"

"I know Rei. I know you would protect me no matter what but the worst this guy can do is bully you and annoy me. We don't have to beat him up for him to stop. He seems like one of those people who would bring a gun to school if he loses that fight and if he does that he'll shoot you and do something to me! Please, for me, cancel that fight."

"You're right Liz. I got carried away. He'll probably call me a coward and stuff though for cancelling that fight."

"It doesn't matter; so long as he doesn't hurt us it's ok."

"But it won't stop his bullying and harassing though."

"Well then what we can do is just tell the teacher. We want to cause the least amount of trouble as possible."

"It may be less trouble but then he'll bully us even more for telling on him. I really just want to beat him up. If he brings a gun to the school then we'll just have to outrun him and get to a teacher as fast possible. If it happens outside of school then I don't know."

"Exactly, you don't know! That's when we'll probably get shot! Please, Rei! We can deal with his nonsense for three years right?"

"Ugh, three years is way too long. Sigh, fine. I'll cancel the fight with him but if he ever touches you then I'm going to kick his ass."

"Fine, only if he touches me. Then I'll have no problem with you beating him."

Elizabeth reached to me and hugged me and right at that moment, that douche came up with two of his friends and started to talk big to us.

"Yo, you better get ready to get your ass handed to you son! No one ever accepts a fight with me cause they know I'll kill them." He said.

"Hey, look; I'm not going to fight you. Alright?"

"Did you just hear what this lil' fucker just said? Not gonna fight me? You scared punk? Afraid I'll kill you in front of your bitch? Haha! You're fighting me, no backing out pussy."

I stood up in front of him and told him straight to his face, "I'm not going to fight you. Elizabeth doesn't want me to fight you because if I beat you then you'll get pissed off and try to kill me for real."

"IF you beat me? You ain't gonna beat me! And why you listening to your whore? They have no right to butt into your man shit."

"She is not a whore! And she DOES have a right to speak her mind! Everyone does, that's why I'm letting you speak yours right now! Shut up and get out of here, the fight is off!"

"Please leave us alone! We don't wa-" Elizabeth said but then got cut off.

"Shut up bitch! You have no right to speak and butt into our talk!"

"HEY! Don't fucking talk to her like that or else…!"

"Or else what?"

My blood started to boil. My adrenaline started to kick. The only thought in my head was to rip this mother fucker's head off!

"Or else I'm going to RIP YOUR GODAMN HEAD OFF!"

"COME AND TRY TOO BITCH!"

The asshole dropped his tray of food on the floor and threw a straight right punch at my face. I weaved to the right and threw a left upper cut to the right side of his body. He flinched in pain and as he did I grabbed his head and clinched it. Once I got him in a clinch I kneed his abdomen with my right knee and held the left side of his head, smashing it against my right elbow. I let his head go and pushed him down to the floor. Once he was on the floor I rushed to mount him. Once I mounted him I started to launch blows on his face as hard as I can and as fast as I can. No one tried to stop the slaughter. Everyone just watched. With a slight look in the side of my eye I saw Elizabeth covering her eyes and crying. Tori and the others were just speechless.

I continued to pound on his face until I heard Elizabeth yell, "REI, STOP! PLEASE! STOP!"

My hand suddenly froze in the midst of action. I was just staring at that guy's battered face with my hand still in the air. I just lost complete control of myself. What have I done…he deserved a beating but this…this is just…

I dropped my hands and got off the motionless body. I just stood there looking down at the body and observing the beaten face. No one was moving or saying anything, they were just staring. There was blood splattered near his face and dripping from my knuckles. His body was just there…his eyes were swollen shut, his nose bent in a way I never knew can be bent that way, and his mouth open with just blood oozing out the side. After a couple of minutes the principal came in and saw the scene. He looked at everyone and then turned to the body on the floor. He was then frozen like a statue.

He rushed to the body and checked its pulse. "He's still alive! SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE NOW!" He shouted. He then looked at me and asked, "Are you responsible for this?"

"Y-yes…" I replied back quietly, still in shock from the beating I laid.

"You know you will be taken to jail right? You fucking monster!"

I couldn't say anything. What the hell did I just do?! My anger took control of me, my fucking rage! PRISON! FUCKING PRISON! NO! I can't let this happen. I'm not going to jail…I am not going to fucking jail! It'll probably be a short time since this was just a beating but…mafia members…they might be there…and I don't know what they would do to me there! Also when the cops know that I'm an illegal immigrant in Canada with Liz…crap! I'll get Liz in trouble too! Well the worse they can do to her is just deport her back to America. But once her parents find out and once the mafia figures out what's going on, they'll go after her! Shit!

All of a sudden I heard the police sirens. NO NO! Crap…I'm going to be taken to the judge…GOD! What's going to happen to me…what's going to happen to Liz?! What about Tori?! She assisted in our crime…

At that moment the cops came in and yelled at me saying, "GET ON THE FLOOR KID!" I went straight to the floor and put my hands behind my head. Fuck! When we get deported to America we'll have the mafia on our tail again! Fucking group is everywhere looking for me! What if I have do have to go to jail! Then Liz is in danger! She'll have no one protecting her and she might get…ARRGH! Hopefully I'll get probation in America and they would only send me back to America. If it's just probation then I can probably still be safe from the mafia. But what about Liz…hopefully she'll be on probation as well…though after that's up; we're open to die any moment. Everything is all based on how lucky we are…the ideal scenario is that I'll be sent back to America with Liz and I'll be put on probation. When I think about it, I don't think Liz will get probation; she's just an illegal immigrant. What if they make it so I'm not allowed to see her again! No! It can't be like that! I have to still be allowed to see her! This isn't a big crime…I think…I hope…I got it, the perfect scenario; We get deported to America, I get probation for a short time, I'll be allowed to see Elizabeth after and once this is all over…we run again. We can't stay in NYC; we need to go to a state with the least amount of mafia members…this is just going to be a never ending run…should I just end my life? There's no point…Liz will be better off without me…
