This is the first time I've written a historical fiction so if I get anything wrong, I would appreciate your patience, thank you :)

Prologue.

In 1888 Britain was under rule of Queen Victoria. The mood was sombre all through Britain and especially in London because the Queen was still in mourning for her dead husband and at the death of many at the hands of Jack the ripper. Everyone was sombre, especially for one family.

This family had once been of the highest standings in London. Mr Franklin had been a very sucessful business man. He bought his wife and daughter beautiful expensive dresses and his son suits and anything their hearts desired. They'd lived in one of the most beautiful homes, that is until his business started to fail.

It was a small thing at first, losing a few hundred here and there, didn't really concern anyone at the time, but as the end of 1836 things were looking really bad. He could barely scrap together enough money to survive. By the time time it was June all his money was gone and he was forced to close down his business.

His wife was forced to take a job as a streamtress in a small London shop barely scraping by on five pounds a month. Mr Franklin became a driver for on of his old friends, who after his fortune fell, so had the friendship. He daughter had also been forced to seek work as a governess for The Collier family, the wealthiest family in all of London. Her younger brother could no longer afford to attend school, so instead worked in the Collier's stables.

After getting the job as a driver Mr Franklin committed suicide by jumping of the bridge and drowning. As far as he was concerned he had disgraced his family and was too ashamed to stay.

Grief stricken at the lose of her father and of her social standing Abigale Franklin packed for both herself and her younger brother Oscar. Tomorrow morning they would both leave to live with the Collier family. Her mother had been good friend's with the Collier's and Abigale had briefly met both of Mr Collier's sons and his daughters.

Abigale wasn't afraid of what might happen when she went to live with the Collier's, she knew that Mr and Mrs Collier were fair and nice people. Unlike the other friend's of her parents, they were the only ones who had still reached out and offer Abigale and Oscar jobs.

Abigale knew very little of what her job would entale... But she couldn't predict what would happen... She couldn't predict she'd fall in love.

I know that this was very short but this was just an introduction. The next chapter will be longer and hopefully better.
