Tide
November 3, 2009, 12pm
I miss you, I love you, I miss you, I love you,
The tidal words wash over me—
The gentle rise, the sweeping fall.
Swimming silently without you,
Breathing in love without you,
My eyes stay open as the shadows grow darker,
My chest rising and falling,
I miss you, I love you.
The ocean is cold, but this bed is colder.
On subconscious seas, wine-dark with myth,
My lips form words, which dissolve into sighs;
I miss you, I love you, I want to be with you.
Your smell lingers in these tangled sheets,
And if I close my eyes and slowly breathe,
I pretend you're beside me, curled up sideways,
Or gone for a moment, roaming the house.
You'll be back soon; you'll be home soon.
I miss you, I love you. I miss you, I love you.
